We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Scarecrow Group won Global Player – Export Business of the Year on Friday at the Sussex Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, sponsored by ILG (International Logistics Group Ltd). The award recognises the global scope of Scarecrow, with our products now found on every continent.

We were up against strong competition for the accolade, and the fact that we emerged victorious reflects the hard work of our whole team in building a business which, despite a modest headcount, has become a leader in bio-acoustic bird dispersal on an international scale.

Our team also had a fantastic time at the award ceremony on Friday evening, enjoying a three-course meal, dancing to a live band, and casino tables. A well-earned celebration of a fantastic achievement.

It is especially exciting that we have won this accolade in the year Scarecrow Group celebrates its 40th anniversary. Well done to all our team for the hard work that brought us here.

Recent media coverage of a disputed lake highlights how important it is for airports to monitor offsite risks.

The lake was built without planning permission and may or may not be allowed to remain. One of its staunchest opponents is a nearby airport, concerned that by attracting birds to the area the lake will increase the risk of wildlife strikes.

Follow the link below to read more about the lake, and about Scarecrow’s dedicated solutions for managing the risks posed by offsite wildlife attractants.

Scarecrow Group is proud to announce that we have achieved our fourth ISO certification We now hold ISO 27001:2022, which covers information security, cybersecurity and privacy protection.

Achieving four ISOs in such a short space of time would be an achievement even for a much larger company. We are very proud of our team, and especially our Operations Manager Deb Miall for all her hard work in making this happen.

Scarecrow Group has built a 40-year reputation on market-leading bio-acoustic bird dispersal products. However, truly effective bird control relies not just on having the right equipment, but on knowing how to use it to its full potential.

This, in turn, requires an understanding of how birds behave when they hear a distress call. Our latest blog looks at the ways that different species might respond to danger, and how to use that to your advantage when deploying Scarecrow products.

Our Managing Director Lee Pannett recently spent some time at Ostend-Bruges International Airport, welcoming them aboard as clients and training them in the use of their newly acquired B.I.R.D Tab and O.A.R software.

Ostend-Bruges welcomed the better part of 400,000 passengers last year, a 4.6% increase on 2022, and currently serves 14 destinations with plans to grow that number. As passenger numbers increase, so does the importance of keeping those passengers safe from wildlife incidents. As well as adopting our bio-acoustic bird control and market-leading reporting solutions, the airport is expanding its bird control team, which now consists of a team leader and four team members.

The airport is gearing up for its grand reopening this week, having been closed since January for refurbishment to its runways and taxiways. Now fully equipped and trained with Scarecrow software and equipment, this thriving transport hub will be better equipped than ever to monitor and mitigate the risks of bird activity when they welcome back passengers.
