Little ride out to Melton today for a, northern soul brunch, shame the organisers delayed the start till 2pm as we were there at 12pm never mind, great company, beautiful weather and of course no issues on the scoots ๐Ÿ˜ hope all that stayed had a good time, I decided to rag my scooter to within an inch of its life on the way home and now in the garden listening to 80's ๐Ÿซช

Beta 300 first major test, Leicester to Quiberon and return.

Everything went well from Leicester to the ferry at Portsmouth 9 lambretta's one standard GP 200, seven kitted or tuned and my bike engined scoot. Only probs were a couple of loose nuts and bolts and one put in a splash of gear oil.

When we pulled off the ferry I noticed a coolant leak on mine and it turned out the radiator bracket had snapped which let the fan catch on the radiator core which had then split and also one fan blade was missing. It had to go in the van for the rest of the journey to Quiberon.

In Quiberon we sourced a second hand radiator but while fitting it we were given some liquid metal and decided a repair was less risky than a smaller radiator. The missing fan blade made the scooter run hotter but besides a few more loose bolts it held together for the journey home. 3 other scoots had minor issues on the way back, lights not working, loose cowling and one ran out of fuel.

I think with detours and rideouts here and there we did about 700 miles with mine doing about 550. Cruising speeds where appropriate were 65ish . Big shout out to Mr Taylor who has 11,000 plus miles on his casa 230 without any issues worth mentioning.

The Dyno test revealed a touch under 25hp. I've got to say I was sure it was going to be over 30hp and my vanity was almost demanding it. So we have an engine that was 41hp already factory detuned from 51hp and with my exhaust modifications I've let loose another 16hp. On the bright side it cruises nicely at 70 mph and is likely not under a great deal of stress. ๐Ÿง

Any guesses on the real hp? Beta 300cc x trainer 2 stroke single, 41bhp standard. Has non tuned exhaust, running a tiny bit rich and gearing is high. I'll update tomorrow with JG scooters Dyno test. ๐Ÿ˜

Cooling with 2 radiators and 3 fans located on side and under frame loop. Frame: 63 LI 150.
