🌍 Dale Drills: Frequent Flyers (well, Frequent Sailers) ✈️🚢

Turns out our drills have racked up more air miles than most of us — they just prefer travelling by sea.

From New Zealand and Australia to Germany, France, Norway and Sweden (and plenty more besides), Dale Drills — both new and used — have been crossing borders and oceans to find new homes on farms around the world.

For our friends in mainland Europe, the drills hop aboard RORO ferries (roll-on, roll-off — no seasickness reported 🤢). For the longer hauls to the other side of the planet, they travel first class in a shipping container — window seat not guaranteed.

And the best bit? You won’t need a degree in international logistics. Dale Drills and our trusted partners handle the customs paperwork and shipping, so getting a drill onto your farm is an absolute breeze — wherever in the world that farm happens to be. 🌱

Our 12m drill prototype out for a pull.
This one was a bit of a testbed at the time, featuring a pressurised hopper and a slightly extended A-frame. A lot of what we learned from this machine shaped the drills we’re building today.
The crawler? Let’s just say horsepower was never going to be the limiting factor here.

Back around 2001, the very first Dale Drills were taking shape on our own family farm here in Lincolnshire — the result of our founder John 'Edward' Dale searching for a more cost effective and soil friendly way of establishing his crops.
We never forget where we started. Looking back at those early machines keeps us grounded and inspires us to keep refining, improving, and innovating with everything we build today.

Does moving to direct drilling mean buying a brand new tractor? Not with a Dale.

Here's a 6m Dale Drills Eco M pulled by a vintage John Deere 3350 - just 100hp under the bonnet.

The low horsepower requirement across the Dale range is deliberate. It means farmers can put serious working width behind the tractors already sitting in the yard, rather than financing a six-figure upgrade to make the switch.

At Dale Drills, we don't just supply machines — we work with our customers to make sure every drill is the perfect fit for their farm and their kit. 🌱

This recently supplied MTD+ with front hopper is a great example. The customer's tractor had previously suffered from high oil temperatures, so rather than leaving them to manage the issue themselves, we designed and fitted a bespoke oil cooler directly to the drill's fan. Problem solved — before it even became one.

Every farm is different, and off-the-shelf doesn't always cut it. Whether it's a custom configuration, a practical engineering solution, or simply thinking ahead for the customer, we're here to make sure you get the most from your Dale Drill.
