. Today we introduce you to Robin, our intern and Project Assistant. Originally from the UAE, Robin studied his Masters of Science (Automotive Engineering) at Staffordshire University, followed by Project Management (Continuing Education) at the University of Oxford.

His internship with us is through WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group) WMG : University of Warwick, who operate a programme where the intern works from the company under the guidance of a member of the WMG department; in Robin’s case this is Tony Zeng who is a Technology Transfer Engineer in the Material & Manufacture Team. With Tony and his team’s extensive knowledge and support, both Robin and CFS working together allows us to propel our product development.

Robin is the second intern that we have had through this scheme, we have also extended his placement twice so far. Through use of 3D modeling and FEA (finite element analysis) he has been turning our CFS vision of upcoming products into a reality allowing initial assessments of their performance to be carried out.

When Robin isn’t in the office, he enjoys 3-D printing and carrying out DIY Projects.

During construction of the new National Wembley Stadium, CFS manufactured and supplied the steel windposts. The building was designed with high internal walls and to ensure stability, different styles of CFS's custom manufactured steel windposts were used to increase lateral wall stability. These steel posts are integrated within the block walls.

Chelsea Waterfront is a mixed-use redevelopment of the original iconic Lots Road powerstation, originally powering the London underground. Designed by Sir Terry Farrell, it combines low raise townhouse-style buildings, the original power house, and two new towers, combined with public access landscape gardens, this redevelopment has brought an exciting new buzz to the area.

The facade design required a GRC band to be supported as well as masonry support, that sat directly above a GRC diamond. Given CFS's experience both in the design of GRC support and masonry support, CFS were able to consider the additional design challenges and designed a novel type of combined masonry and GRC support bracket. The design adjustment resulted in savings on masonry support brackets, due to smaller material use, despite the brackets being relatively large.

CFS used their adjustable masonry support (AMS), designed to withstand heavy loads with maximum on-site tolerance for applications in masonry, stone or GRCfacade. They also used their adjustable inverted masonry support. For inverted support the BSA sits above the point of fixing and is suitable for applications where support is required above the slab.

Meet Mahmud Sahto, our Technical Project Manager. Born in The Hague, The Netherlands, he studied at Cardiff University, after which he first became a mathematics tutor. He started with CFS in September 2022 as a Junior Technical Project Engineer, but was soon promoted to his current role after passing his probationary period as he showed such knowledge and flair. Mahmud’s day mainly involves designing optimum solutions and design support for masonry walls, GRC panels and wind posts for masonry walls. He also provides technical support to our customers across our wide range of products.
He says the most exciting project he’s worked on to date is at 150 Aldersgate Street, City of London; a green retrofit and repositioning of a workplace building in Farringdon. We optimised for the least wasteful solution for an environmentally friendly and economical solution.

When he’s not designing in the office, he enjoys photography, baking and playing the guitar. A very talented member of staff!

Meet Jade Helliwell, our Sales Administrator.

After staying on for sixth form at The Holt School in Wokingham, Jade joined a well known high street retail brand, gaining great customer service skills before moving on in 2019 to a more focused customer facing experience with a national health club, as customer liaison for membership.

Jade joined CFS in May 2023 in the Sales Team and her busy role involves dealing with customers and day to day enquiries as well as processing customer orders. She is very personable and always eager to assist.

Designed by architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), 1 Bank Street is a office tower with a sloping western and flexible design, based around cellular beams. It was designed to achieve BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating with the facade maximising natural light. The loads that the panels need to withstand are significantly more than usual. We used Duplex Cast-in Channels, as well as PEC hot and cold rolled stainless steel cast in channels for strength and durability.

Meet our newest recruit, Raghav Lohar who has been brought in as Technical Sales Manager (London) with effect from 19th February.

Raghav brings with him a plethora of experience.

He completed a Master of Science degree in Engineering Projects and Systems Management at Kingston University, where he applied theoretical knowledge to find practical solutions for engineering problems.

Prior to joining CFS he achieved 'Sales Rock Star' status as a Business Development Manager at BYJU'S, the world's most valued (SaaS) Ed-tech startup, by generating a record individual revenue of £100K.

Guy Pearson says; “Raghav’s varied work experience has resulted in his exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, as well as his ability to work with teams and professionals of varying seniority. He possesses real passion for collaborating with others to implement effective solutions that improve business outcomes.”

CFS have a long history of creating bespoke solutions. Our patented system is a solution for restraining existing facades to new structures. Using this restraint, the facade can be fixed allowing both movement. This bespoke product for façade retention combining two cast-in channels and a bobbin was used on a project on the 19th century, Regent’s Crescent adjacent to Regent’s Park back in 2017. The buildings were reconstructed in the 1960s after sustaining damage during the Second World War.

. Today we introduce you to Karina Taylor MBCS and Junior Project Manager.

Karina joined CFS in November 2022 as a project coordinator and was elevated to Junior Project Manager in June 2023.

Prior to joining CFS she studied Interior Architecture and Design as well as her Master’s Degree at the University of Portsmouth, where she obtained a Distinction in her MSc for Project Management with an architectural background. She is proficient in change management and has studied Prince2. She’s a trained business analyst and has illustrated her dedication by being awarded Scrum Master, a mission-based organisation to help people and teams solve complex problems, by applying Professional Scrum through training courses, certifications and ongoing learning - all based on a common competency model.

Karina is bi-lingual speaking both English and Russian.

Project at Fulham Riverside, March 2020. We were contacted by a major UK-based contractor to review the masonry support designs at a residential-led development on the North Bank of the Thames.
