⚠️ Dabbing issues - adhesive dry-lining ⚠️
Way too often do we see thermal bypassing behind plaster board in our thermal surveys.
In these images below are two very good examples of inproper dabbing, but an issue that is seen 9 times out of 10.
The thermograms show a thermal bypass between the masonry wall and plasterboard. This is easily prevented through applying a continuous ribbon of adhesive to form an air seal across the top of the ceiling to wall junction.
This technique should be used throughout the installation of plasterboard to create an air barrier around the full perimeter which is called a “picture frame” technique.
Thermal bypassing can significantly worsen the fabric energy efficiency and render the the insulation completely irrelevant to the flow of heat in localised areas.
