One of the rarer prototypes we see modelled - to be honest we've only ever seen one other. A Franco-Crosti 9F in 3 1/2 inch gauge, modelled on one of the class of 10 engines built in the 1950s.

Super rare, nicely built, technically interesting - so no surprise when, listed earlier in the week, by end of play next day it was crated and ready to ship to its new owner.

But we enjoyed having it, however briefly!

It's here: the third edition of the Station Road Steam website, now powered by Shopify. Welcome aboard.

First, thank you for your patience over the past few months while we developed and launched the new site. We know the old website became increasingly difficult to access, and we appreciate your understanding while the transition took place.

Migrating more than 9,500 listings, over 126,000 images, and well in excess of a million words was no small undertaking, but we're delighted to have everything safely transferred and ready for the future.

The new website offers improved performance, enhanced functionality, and a much faster browsing experience. There's plenty more planned for future updates, but for now we invite you to explore the live stock pages and extensive Archive on our new lightning-fast server.

If you had an account on the previous website, your details will be transferred to the new platform shortly. If you already have a Shopify account, you can simply sign in using those existing credentials.

The online shop and "Enquire Now" features are fully operational and connected directly to us here at SRS Towers. Daily update emails for newly arrived stock are still being finalised, and we expect this service to return within the next week or so.

Thank you for your continued support, and enjoy exploring the new Station Road Steam.

A long day yesterday — 400 miles and eight hours on the road — picking up a large collection from the south of England.

It’s amazing how much you can get into a van and trailer if you put your mind to it… although it was a bit touch and go collecting a 9F on the way home as well!

A shower and a cold beer before a late supper when we got back last night felt well earned.

One of the best bits of our job is meeting interesting people. In this case a retired surgeon, a man with a lifelong passion for classic cars, full-size steam – until recently owning a well-known Fowler DCC road locomotive – and model engineering.

Impressed by an exhibition quality 3 inch scale road locomotive (the Fowler 10nhp Super Lion “King Carnival” - so impressed, in fact, that he bought it) and having recently finished a 23 year build of one of the finest 7 ¼ inch gauge Stanier Duchesses we’ve seen, he set to and built a 4 ½ inch scale version.

Detailed down to the last rivet, the build took him five years – the engine is magnificent, at first glance easily mistaken for a 6 inch scale engine, such is its size.

Latest project is a 7 ¼ inch gauge Ivatt Class 2 – again, being built to the highest standard.

We left in awe of the man, his models and his workshop.
