Some of you know, but now the time has come for me to come clean. Last year I collapsed at the Gym, lots of theories but eventually we found that I had oesophageal cancer, the tube between my throat and stomach. I chose the surgery route and a month ago it was removed.
It will be another couple of months before I am able to work; as I write this I still have a feeding tube fitted. I will make it and be back to doing what I enjoy, developing cars.
Today I have made the decision that I will tidy up my own cars, complete a couple of customer projects but do no more. We have people wanting our DAD GBC conversions on Abarths – sorry they will not happen. There isn’t enough profit in these jobs to employ a really good technician and I don’t have the energy to supervise adequately.
I know that we know considerably more about the mapping in the Abarth ME7 and ME17 ecus than probably anybody else, we have seen lots of maps from other people and know that nobody else is changing the turbo compressor maps when changing the turbo. There are hundreds of variables that should be changed that are being ignored, but for a few hundred pounds less the overheads it isn’t financially viable for each car. I would love to sell on the knowledge and equipment that we have for remapping, but people seem mainly happy with the rubbish that we are seeing so I cannot see that anybody can recoup the value of our briefcase.
So, there we have it – no more chaps, I am retired.
