Huddled Close
We stand and wait
No time for tears
And long debates

Sign here my boy
You're off to war
What lies ahead
Is still unsure

Our Parent's cries
Replay again
We sign as boys
We leave as men

Our pride is mixed
With sickening fear
As we march away
Through deafening cheers

And In no time
We join with others
With determined drive
A band of brothers

Our task is known
In this foreign land
Protect the line
Make a stand

Through Freezing nights
Unholy sounds
The smell of death
Is all around

We huddle close
And still we wait
It's nearly time
To face our fate

The whistle sounds
We rise as one
From muddy tombs
Into the sun

Screams of pain
As soldiers fall
We stagger on
We slide, we crawl

An endless hell
The angry guns
The silver moons
The Hazy Suns

Ours heads are filled
With pain and grief
Yet still we share
One true belief

We will survive
The hellish strain
We will return
Back home again

Yet now I lie
In Flowers Red
The Sergeant shouts
Move on ... he's dead

The world remembers
The heroic sons
Who came back home
The lucky ones

They gave their all
To claim their lives
They fathered children
They took their wives

The glory was theirs
These amazing men
Who crawled through hell
And rose again

They gave you the chance
To live without fear
The tiny red flowers
We remember each year

So when you reflect
On your life, that’s free
Don’t see a Poppy
