A statement from OBP OBRIEN PROPERTIES LTD
We have this morning received calls from vulnerable members of the public reporting that a man in a blue unmarked van has been knocking on doors in the local areas claiming that he works for ourselves and offering roof repair works and other works. At extortionate prices.
We would like to make the public very aware and advise you to let older friends, neighbours and vulnerable family members know that this person/persons is not apart of our team. And has never been apart of our team before.
All of our team members would have the following if arriving at your premises. And we would NEVER knock on your door to tell you that you need work doing to your property.
• A white or silver van with our sign writing showing all around.
• All staff wear uniforms with company logos embossed on the chest and back.
• No staff members would provide a quote on works requested by homeowners, other than the company owner “RYAN”
•We do not offer verbal contracts, everything is put on a letter headed quotation and invoice with our company number and vat number attached clearly.
We dropped everything immediately and have done an emergency home visit to the vulnerable caller as soon as she called and went straight out to her. We have advised to report to the police and to decline and send away if they return. We also talked through what she was being pressured into and confirmed she did not need the work completing at the level this person has said!
We Currently are awaiting a registration plate from ring doorbell footage and will attach later to the post when we have it and forward to the police also.
We attach photos to this post of our van signage, our staff in uniforms so all public members know what to look out for if something like this happens to you or someone you know.
Please get in touch asap if you also have been a victim of this person using our business name recently.
Please share far and wide to family and friends and make sure nobody else gets targeted by this scumbag. Luckily we saved this lady thousands today. But it isn’t always the case until it is too late. so please be cautious!
