The Company can trace its origins back to 1862 as roof tilers and slaters. John Atkinson Ceilings Ltd was founded in 1952, making them probably the oldest established suspended ceiling contractor in the UK. However, to more fully reflect the range of services offered, in 2003 the company name was changed to John Atkinson Interiors Ltd

We have always maintained our position as a leading specialist contractor over the years with a reputation for reliability and a sound, common sense approach. This has resulted in our contracts being delivered on time and to a high standard, at best value costs. Meeting demands for a more comprehensive package, our range of services now include specialist Acoustic surveys and installations to a wide range of commercial, educational and community projects as well as our core businesses of suspended ceilings

We work in a wide and varied range of sectors, not only for main-contractors but often directly for the client themselves, including –

Retail – Recent clients include supermarket giants such as Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Asda and Morrison’s, smaller projects for William Hill, Aldi and Lidl as well as countless ‘one-off’ for independent traders of any size

Commercial – From a single room to the largest building, during normal hours or whilst the premises are closed we offer the highest levels of service and care

Health – We have a wealth of experience in carrying out works within a healthcare environment and appreciate the special requirements and importance of safe, hygiene aware working

Education – We are particularly experienced in carrying out works to a very tight schedule over holidays, and understand special importance of completion dates to meet the needs of the time table

Local authorities, public services, military facilities and prisons – Our CHAS Accreditation and our being registered or approved by many local authorities via SCMS, means that we are able to carry out any work, at short notice if necessary. Furthermore, we are willing and able to comply with any CRB or security checks and processes that may be required

Despite growing competition from Tau, Pi remains a favourite of many a mathematician and acoustician. Pi appears in so many places and equations in science and in nature

And a very happy birthday to the man who gave us the most famous equation of them all, Albert Einstein, born today in 1879. From General, to special relativity through to quantum theory (though he didn't like it!) Einstein provided some of the biggest breakthroughs in science of the 20th century ; theories still put into practise today and the basis of our current understanding of the universe and space time.

Are you involved with a not-for-profit, charitable organisation in West Yorkshire? If so we may have something for you….
Each year we try and donate to as many good causes as we can as we believe every gesture, big or small, makes a difference. After celebrating the 160th anniversary of John Atkinson Interiors in 2022, we want to start 2023 where we left off by doing something we have never done before.
We are passionate about acoustics and sound control and we know through experience what difference improving the acoustics of a space can make, both to usability and the health of those who use it.
So our idea is simple. John Atkinson Interiors and ClearSound are coming together to donate some of our surplus acoustic panels to good local causes, to allow them to improve their spaces. There’s no catch. All we ask is that your organisation is a not-for-profit, registered charity and your need is genuine. (We will need your registered charity number to verify). So if you are involved with a local charity, all you need to do is get in touch and we will see if we can help. This is all on a first come first served basis and when the surplus stocks are gone, they’re gone! Please email [email protected] or [email protected] with a brief description of your need together with the registered charity details and we will try and help. All panels will be supplied bare (fixings by user but we can advise on installation method and materials needed) and they are collect only from LS27 9QT. We will try and respond to as many emails as possible!
