Re-slate of the new Highland Fox Hub in nairn.
This building has been taken on by a brave local couple with the intentions of restoring it to its former glory, one of the many run down buildings in the town so its great to see someone puting there hard earned money into somthing our local council has left to ruin. So give them a like and go see what they are all about. They have another business which this building will be there main base for Highland Fox Interiors which offer interior design and renovations.
This building is 178 years old and was originaly built as a school, we found some lead dated from 1848 with the old scroll writing which was quite faded but you can just make out names of the carpenter, plumber, slaters, plasterer, and stone mason of the build which was a nice find.
All slates stripped, sarking replaced and new breathable membrane, original slates were re holed, and used again on the front and council facing elevations of the building and we sourced some reclaimed welsh slates to put on the library carpark side, these were as close a match to the original slates we could source. All slates fixed with new copper nails. New code 5 lead valleys and lead done on 2 chinmeys (the other 2 are having masonry work done in future so lead to be replaced at a later date). New roof window and 5 new flush slate vents installed and some zinc ridging to finish it
