From Tottenham Court Road to Birmingham.

It's always good to welcome a new client. But there's something particularly satisfying about being asked back.

Following our work on the Sandwich Sandwich restaurant in London, we were delighted to be involved in their latest fit-out in Birmingham.

Our team delivered the complete electrical installation, including commercial kitchen power, new circuits, data infrastructure and lighting throughout the restaurant.

And as you can see, the finished space looks fantastic.

A great project to be involved in, and even better to continue working with a growing business.

If the power went off in your workplace tomorrow, would everyone be able to find their way out safely?

It's probably not something you think about very often. But emergency lighting is one of those things you really need to know will work when it's needed.

And it's not simply a case of putting a few illuminated exit signs above the doors.

The layout of your building, escape routes, stairways and areas where people work all need to be considered. Regular testing and maintenance are important too.

For UK businesses, emergency lighting forms part of wider fire safety responsibilities, and getting it right is about protecting the people who use your building.

We've put together a guide explaining what you need to know.

There's finishing a job.

And then there's checking that one last thing. Just to be sure.

Anyone in the trade will know how that goes.

Happy Friday from the Portcullis team.

“Portcullis are definitely different, they’re very professional in their approach to every project. After the initial consultation they listen carefully and then advise, and seem to just get the job done. Their enthusiasm for your project is so refreshing and the team are very polite and friendly.”

It's always lovely to receive feedback like this.

We take pride in the work we do, but just as importantly, we want our customers to feel listened to, well advised and confident they've got the right people for the job.

Thanks for the kind words, Martin. They're much appreciated by the whole team.

There's a lot of potential sitting above our heads.

Take this warehouse in Birmingham.

119 solar panels. 55.335 kWp of installed capacity. And a roof that's now doing more than keeping the weather out.

Our team completed this commercial solar installation across two different roof sections, each requiring its own mounting arrangement.

The aim? To help the business generate more of its own electricity, reduce its reliance on the grid and manage energy costs over the longer term.

It's a substantial installation, but the thinking behind it is pretty straightforward.

Make better use of the space you've already got.

“It'll only take five minutes.”

Usually followed by:

“While you're here, could you just have a quick look at something else?”

And that's how five minutes becomes the rest of the afternoon.

Anyone in the trades knows.

Happy Friday.

Outdoor lighting can make a huge difference to how a home looks and feels.

But choosing the lights is only part of the job.

Before installing anything, there are a few things worth thinking about.

Will the fittings be suitable for the location and weather exposure? Where will the cables run? Do you want the lights on a timer, sensor or separate switch? And will the positioning give you useful light without shining straight into the neighbours' windows?

Getting those details right at the start makes all the difference.

Because good outdoor lighting should look great, work properly and be built to last.

A warehouse needs more than a few lights and somewhere to plug things in.

There’s power for equipment, lighting that makes the space practical to work in, emergency lighting, fire safety and the infrastructure that brings everything together.

At Packaging One in Middlewich, our team delivered a commercial electrical installation covering three-phase power, high-bay LED lighting, fire alarms, emergency lighting and mezzanine systems.

Different elements. One coordinated installation.

Because when a business is ready to get moving, the electrics need to be ready too.
