Happy World Plumbing Day. Plumbing is a major part of our everyday routine such as having a shower, getting a glass of water from a tap and flushing the toilet. All of these tasks are possible thanks to trained plumbers and advances in plumbing. However, that is only part of the story - there are still millions of people around the world who lack access to basic plumbing amenities. Life without basic plumbing leads to lowered living standards and many serious health consequences. Effective plumbing is also essential to helping the environment. With increased water shortages and droughts worldwide, sustainable and energy
efficient plumbing are paramount to helping the planet.

On this blustery, eventful day, it's great to finish the week with some positive feedback. Genuine feedback sent to our MD, 'Your guys have always done a great job. Always friendly and professional when they come on site. If ever we have any call out issues, your office is on it straight away, and on a number of occasions getting technicians to divert on their way back from another job...'.

It's obvious we are pretty much sold on the idea of apprenticeships. But do you know that Apprenticeship Week is based on the theme of ‘Build the Future’, a continuation of the theme used in 2021 and allowing the week to link to the key pillars of the Build Back Better campaign? Technical education has been transformed in recent years through programmes such as apprenticeships, Traineeships, T Levels, and KickStart. Apprenticeship week will encourage the country to consider and celebrate how technical education can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and employers to develop a workforce with future ready skills. We are proud to be part of this initiative.

'It's brilliant!' - that's the verdict on being an apprentice from one of our second year trainees, Callum. We also discussed being paid whilst learning, gaining the right skills and learning from experts. What is there not to like about being an apprentice???

Over the years, our apprentices have provided a continual stream of workers, trained to a great standard and gaining qualifications that are nationally recognised. Our MD, Bill Stringer, recently commented ' Apprentices are an important part of Ecomec business in terms of nurturing future capability of the Ecomec engineering team.' We know how valuable apprentices are to our business and would recommend other SMEs should consider having apprentices in their business too.
