The latest public release of DDM, brings a range of updates focused on making DDM more efficient and easier to use.

Some of the highlights include:

• New Workflow Editor options including grid lines, snap to grid and guidelines, with further improvements and enhancements to the Workflow Tool continuing to be developed!

• A new default search to help with slower searches in larger databases, along with a Ctrl + H shortcut to quickly return to your default search

• The ability to attach any file type, use different attachments as previews and set default attachments

• Comments can now be displayed in the preview window, including attached images

• Multi-select in the BOM Editor makes it easier to update the same value across multiple items

• Logging for Solid Edge and SOLIDWORKS to help capture issues and make troubleshooting easier

A big thank you to Kevin Wass, Head of Product Engineering & IVV at Apollo Fire Detectors, for joining our latest DDM Focus Workshop as our special guest.

Kevin shared how Apollo uses SQL scripts within DDM workflows to automate the identification of impacted top level products during their concession process. By replacing a manual, error prone task with an automated SQL query, they reduced a process that could take over 30 minutes down to just a few seconds while improving traceability and supporting compliance in a highly regulated industry.

It was a great real world example of how SQL scripts can be used to automate workflows, save time and improve consistency across engineering processes.
