A fantastic project to have been involved with, now nearing completion. It's always great to see a job through its entirety from initial site investigations to final sampling of the Roller Compacted Concrete.

The opportunity to witness first hand the challenges that arise from a project in this environment and of this scale. With continuous testing and comprehensive planning from the client, it is a representation of engineering at it's peak.

Has anyone seen the sun??

Most sites across the north east are suffering from the relentless rain. Nevertheless work must continue with plate load testing requested across the region. A fundamental test method in many construction projects with attenuation tank bases, crane pads, piling mats and road construction layers tested this week.

Requests for us to carry out the extraction of road cores is becoming increasingly more frequent. Samples recovered this week for the determination of road construction, with the cores also being sent for lab analysis for grading.

Schmidt Rebound Hammer testing today of 4no wing wall's. Each panel tested to British Standard allowing the estimated cube compressive strength of the cast concrete without intrusive works.

Huge amount of data collected with 9 series carried out on each panel of each wing wall and a total of 2430 hammer blows.

Data synced via Bluetooth to allow live data analysis and an immediate MPa reading...game changer ⚡.

Nifty little thing the Clegg Hammer.

One man operation, no machine required as a reaction load and instant results that correlate to laboratory CBR values.

Handy for field reference in areas of restricted access and when there are no machines on site.

No need for kentledge and backed by the Transport Research Laboratory and Department for Transport, the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) or TRL Probe can effectively determine strength characteristics of soil such as estimated CBR value and bearing capacity.

Ideal for the construction of pavements and in areas where machine access cannot be attained ✅.
