We are delighted to announce that the latest member of our road crew to progress through the Davis Trackhire ranks is Liam "Smudge" Smith, who has successfully passed his HGV Class 1 test 🚛

Liam becomes the 10th member of our current road crews to progress into the role of Driver Operator after joining the business as a Driver's Mate - another great example of our commitment to investing in our people and promoting from within 🟢⚫️

🟢⚫ A look back at one of our DTH Mats installations 🟢⚫

On this site, access was too restricted for machinery 🚫🚛, the perfect job for our DTH Mats to shine.

Every mat was installed completely by hand 👷‍♂️💪 No machines, just manpower getting the job done.

A simple medium-duty solution that created safe access where plant access wasn’t possible.

When our client needed to carry out urgent maintenance works on a railway bridge in North Yorkshire, Davis Trackhire was on hand to provide safe and reliable along the rail embankment. 🚧🚆

With limited room for manoeuvre on site, our industry-leading out-of-cab remote drive system proved invaluable, allowing our installation crew full 360° visibility around the vehicle while safely installing our panels.

This crane operation took place on a school site where space was extremely limited 🏗️

To help the project move forward safely, we installed temporary trackway to provide the access and ground protection needed for the crane to reach its working position. 💪

Careful planning, tight access, and another successful installation. 👌

🟢⚫ Davis Trackhire at it again! 🟢⚫

For this project, we created a temporary compound and storage area for machinery and plant 🚜🏗️

Using our trackway system, we were able to build a stable, durable surface that allowed heavy equipment to be safely stored and moved on site, even in challenging ground conditions 🌧️💪

A great example of how temporary access solutions can also be used to create functional working and storage areas on site.

It's started.

After a glorious couple of weeks of sunshine, Britain has stayed true to form and the heavens have well and truly opened 💧

And the forecast suggests there's plenty more to come 😢

That dry, rock-hard field which happily carried heavy vehicles, plant and equipment last week can quickly become a very different story after sustained rainfall.

As water penetrates the soil, the top layer loses strength, reducing its load-bearing capacity and increasing the risk of:

🚜 Vehicles becoming stuck
🕳️ Deep rutting and ground damage
⏳ Costly delays to projects and events
💷 Expensive reinstatement works

Ground conditions can deteriorate far faster than most people expect, particularly where drainage is poor and the ground hasn't had time to recover.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Paul Davis - affectionately known throughout the company as “Uncle Paul” - who sadly passed away on Friday 22nd May 2026.

Paul was the uncle of our Directors and Founders, Blake and Travis, and although never officially a full-time member of the team, he was very much part of the fabric of the business from the very beginning.

Alongside his brother Emile, Paul played an instrumental role in helping Blake and Travis get the business off the ground in the early days. Whether it was repairing panels, assisting with deliveries, jumping on a forklift, driving when needed, or later supporting us as an independent haulage contractor with his own truck, Paul was always willing to muck in and help wherever he could.

His work ethic, loyalty and support over the years will never be forgotten, and his contribution to the foundations of the business is something we will always be grateful for.

More recently, it has been especially meaningful to welcome Paul’s daughter, Nova, into the business as part of our accounts team - continuing the strong family connection within the company.

Our thoughts are with Nova, the wider Davis family, and everyone who knew and loved Paul during this incredibly difficult time.
