Watts Up With Site Adoption ⚡

Not every charger out there was built by us.
And not every charger out there is working the way it should.

In our latest Watts Up With, we meet Tom Ponsford and the team taking on chargers installed by other networks and bringing them back into use. From site surveys and integration testing to fixing, upgrading or replacing them entirely, this is where underperforming infrastructure gets a second life.

Because it’s not just about building new charge points.
It’s about making sure the ones already out there actually work.

As Tom puts it:
“No charger we adopt gets left behind. If it’s not working, we fix it or replace it.”

The EV transition isn’t just about the environment; it is a massive engine for UK economic growth. A landmark new report commissioned by ChargeUK and produced by LCP Delta reveals the staggering scale of our industry’s impact over the next decade.

By 2035, EV charging will contribute £15.5 bn direct economic value and support over 360,000 green jobs. As a member of ChargeUK, Connected Kerb is proud to be on the ground turning these forecasts into reality.

Every on-street, workplace, and residential charger we deploy is an investment in local economies and the UK's net-zero future. But to unlock this £30 billion investment prize, we need policy certainty. A stable ZEV mandate is critical to keeping momentum high.

Oxfordshire is getting charged up ⚡
We’re proud to be working with Oxfordshire County Council to deliver around 1,000 of the 1,500 new public EV charging sockets coming to the county by 2028 helping more people make the switch to electric, no driveway required.
Around 28% of households in Oxfordshire don’t have off-street parking so this rollout is all about making EVs accessible for everyone, not just a few.
As our CEO, Chris Pateman-Jones, puts it: we’re bringing tried-and-tested charging and innovative tariffs to meet the needs of residents, commuters and visitors alike.
Cleaner air, more choice, and real progress towards electric for all.
We’re on a mission to save the world one charge at a time - and Oxfordshire is a big step forward.

Big news for the Midlands!

Connected Kerb has been selected to deliver over 1,700 on-street EV charging sockets across Worcestershire, as part of a massive regional push to supercharge electric vehicle infrastructure.

Working in partnership with Worcestershire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire, and Rutland County Councils and with the incredible support of Midlands Connect, this initiative unlocks funding from the DfT’s LEVI fund alongside significant private sector investment to transform the region's network.

By expanding convenient on-street charging solutions, we're building a network that ensures drivers can charge up easily, wherever they live or travel. As part of the wider Midlands Connect programme, thousands of charging sockets will be rolled out across the region, making sustainable travel accessible for everyone, especially households without access to off-street parking.

Chris Pateman-Jones, CEO of Connected Kerb, said:
"We’re delighted to be working with Worcestershire County Council, alongside Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Rutland, on this important step to increase on-street EV charging across the county. As part of the wider Midlands Connect programme, more than 6,600 charging sockets will be delivered across the region, helping Worcestershire be part of a shared regional effort to make cleaner, more sustainable travel easier for everyone."

A huge thank you to all the partner councils and Midlands Connect for driving this forward.

⚡ Weymouth, ready to go electric? ⚡

We’re heading to the coast for Go Electric: Weymouth on Saturday 16 May, from 11am–3pm along Weymouth Esplanade - with sea views included.

The event is part of our work with Dorset Council to make EV charging simpler and more accessible for local residents, especially for people without off-street parking. Our on-street chargers are designed to fit around everyday life, making it easier to charge where you live.

👋 Martin will be there on the day to chat about the Dorset on-street charging project, how EV charging works for residents without driveways, and what accessible charging could look like in your area. No jargon, just open, helpful conversations about charging in everyday life.

If you’re EV-curious, come and say hello.

⚡ Abingdon, fancy a chat about EVs? ⚡

We’re heading to Go Electric: Abingdon on Saturday 25 April, 10am–3pm, at Abingdon Market Place - and yes, we promise we’re friendly.

This is all part of our rollout of on‑street EV chargers across Oxfordshire County Council, making it easier to plug in close to home (no driveway required).

👋 James will be there on the day, so if you’ve got questions, ideas, or just want to talk EVs (or chargers, or parking…), come and grab him for a chat.

No hard sell. No jargon. Just real conversations about cleaner, greener travel in Oxfordshire and beyond.

See you there ⚡

The UK now has clearer, smarter rules for delivering on‑street EV charging. The new Street Works Permits guidance simplifies rollout, reduces admin and helps councils avoid long consultation bottlenecks that once slowed everything down.

This is a major unlock. It means more chargers in the ground, sooner, with less disruption. And it is exactly the shift needed to build a fairer national network that supports everyone who cannot charge at home.
