Project Manager – A417 Missing Link (Gloucester, GL4 8JX)

Thames Valley Construction are seeking an experienced Project Manager to take charge of operations on the A417 Missing Link Project, based near Gloucester. This is a nationally significant scheme requiring solid technical expertise in bridge construction, formwork, RECKLI finishes, and temporary works.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the initial site setup, ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations.
Collaborate with site teams (black hats, foremen, supervisors) to align responsibilities with programme milestones.
Ensure operatives follow approved RAMS and use certified, well-maintained equipment.
Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and monitor site-wide HSE compliance.
Ensure weekly inspections and statutory checks are completed (e.g., plant, scaffold, equipment).
Oversee quality control through ITPs, RECKLI finishes, and pre/post-pour documentation.
Manage material procurement and delivery with internal and external suppliers.
Develop and submit Temporary Works Design Briefs; liaise with PERI or other designers.
Ensure lift plans are prepared, appoint qualified lifting teams, and supervise lifting operations.
Monitor progress against the master programme and issue weekly and fortnightly reports.
Act as the primary liaison with the client, attending meetings and issuing updates.
Track site resources, manage budgets, and submit CVIs with full commercial documentation.
Report incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and share lessons learned.

What We’re Looking For
Proven experience managing bridge construction projects.
Strong technical knowledge of formwork systems and temporary works.
Excellent leadership, communication, and planning skills.
A track record of managing safety, quality, and commercial performance on large-scale civil engineering projects.

We are thrilled to share some progress photos of the quality work being produced by our team at COMET, University of South Wales. Progress photos show the 1st floor milestone being achieved. Once complete, the new building will provide cutting-edge facilities for research, education and teaching in the fields of technology, engineering and computing.

And that’s a wrap… mixed emotions as I complete my last Safe Start for Thames Valley Construction. Great to see there’s standing room only at the fabulous Lysaght Institute in Newport today. Let’s hope sessions like this help more people go home safely every day again this year. Thanks to all those who supported us in creating and delivering this presentation to our team. So that's this year's Safe Start completed! An opportunity to refocus and reset our safety principles with Site Teams after the long festive break. This year, supported by a great team from UWTSD Swansea, we introduced the opportunity for everyone to try the latest VR training equipment with the Work at Height and Drone Pilot modules being well tested and enjoyed by all!
