In 2025, we continued the largest investment programme in the Group’s history, making significant investments in energy efficiency and the development of our production. At our Ilseng plant, we have fully transitioned to next-generation copper-based impregnation, and the new treatment facility and kiln at the Höljäkkä plant are nearing completion.

95% of the wood we use as raw material is sourced locally, close to our plants, and our finished products store more carbon than is generated in their production.
We are also a significant employer in the communities where we operate. Last year,
42 new employees joined the Group, 15 of whom in permanent positions.

Our stockist McVeigh Parker Farm and Fencing Suppliers is attending two county shows this week. You can find Scanpole products at both events at the McVeigh Parker stands.

The Devon County Show is open from Thursday, May 21 to Saturday, May 23. The event takes place at Westpoint Arena, near Exeter (EX5 1DJ). McVeigh Parker’s stand number is 61 / Ave D.

On Saturday, May 23, the traditional Shropshire County Show will be held at the West Midland Showground in Shrewsbury (SY1 2PF).

Today, Tuesday 28 April, we observe the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. The day highlights everyone’s right to a safe and healthy working environment.

At Scanpole, occupational safety is an integral part of everyday work and is taken seriously across the entire group. Improving workplace safety is an ongoing effort carried out in close cooperation with our employees. A concrete example of this is the regular safety walks conducted at all our sites, aimed at identifying and preventing potential safety hazards.

The UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) confirmed the continued approval of creosote-treated fencing posts for safety-critical uses, specifically applications requiring compliance with BS8417 service factor D. The approval is valid until 31 March 2033.

Scanpole’s fencing posts already met these requirements prior to the decision, meaning the ruling has no impact on production, sales, or distribution. The impregnation process used for Scanpole’s fencing posts is the same as that used for our telecommunications and electricity poles. High pressure impregnation combined with a long treatment time ensures a long service life for our products—an essential requirement for utility poles as well.

Scanpole fencing products were on display yesterday at the Mole Valley Farmers Field and Turnout Day in Bridgwater, Somerset. Our expert was on site showcasing our creosote- and copper oil-treated fence products. It was great that we got to participate in the event and have interesting discussions.
All our products are compliant with BS 8417 Security Fencing (Service Code D).
