With the lack of Government support (or even a N.I Government) to help with aid for renewable energy, we would advise you give us a call and get information on the technology and pricing to install Solar or Battery Storage. Larger users can explore the possibilities of a Wind turbine (come in all sizes)and just maybe the technology and the package that suits you, is more affordable than you think. 🤔 As we service the border regions we feel the grant available for Solar and Battery to farmers (especially through TAMS3 applications) and business is considerable and basically means that the investment is repaid in 3 years or less in many cases.

Solar PV and TAMS
The Solar Capital Investment Scheme offers a 60% grant towards the cost of solar PV panels and new batteries. The SCIS has a separate investment ceiling of €90,000. This allows farmers to earn a grant for a solar PV system without affecting their eligibility to receive grants for other items in TAMS III.
Grant Aid
Under the Department of Agricultures new reference costs, the cost of solar PV panels, including inverter and controller, are calculated as follows (all prices excluding VAT):
Reference cost = €1.441 per installed kilowatt (kW)
Therefore a 10kWp (peak output of electricity) solar PV systems reference cost for the system would work out as:
€1,441 by 10 + €1,849 = €16,259. Farmers are eligible to claim a grant of 60% of this or a maximum of €9,917.4. Solar PV rechargeable batteries will also be eligible for grant aid of up to 60%.
The reference costs is calculated as follows: Reference cost €703 per installed kWh + €753.
For a 5 kWh battery, the reference costs work out as €4,268.Farmers are eligible for a maximum grant of 60% or €2,560.80. The cost of the solar panels depend on the type and quality of panel, as well as the scale of system being installed.
