Just wanted to thank all customers for the last 11 years. I’ve decided to close the business and retire.
Also thanks to all the people I’ve worked with.
Thanks everyone.

Potential scam alert: EVO Energy Solutions

14th November 2019

MCS have been made aware of a new potential scam with unsolicited letters being circulated, targeting consumers with Solar PV systems.

Letters have been distributed from a company called EVO Energy Solutions offering “free MOT and services” on systems. The letter goes on to advise that solar panel warranty is due to expire.

These letters have stark similarities to others that we have warned of previously; linked to the ‘British Trading Solar Association’ (BTSA), ESE Consultants Limited and ESE Services. All companies list Gary Fredson as Director who has previously been apprehended by Trading Standards-backed Consumer Code, RECC for breaking consumer protection regulations and the Advertising Standards Authority code.

Linked to this, earlier this year The Daily Mirror newspaper conducted their own investigation of BTSA and Gary Fredson, warning consumers of junk mail that could trick you into making unnecessary payments.

If you receive unsolicited letters from companies offering services for your solar panels, we advise you to either ignore the letter completely or, if you are concerned, to contact your original installer or an MCS accredited installer that is also a member of a consumer body for advice. EVO Energy Solutions are not registered with MCS.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is set to increase VAT from 5% to 20% for the installation of a number of renewable and sustainable energy sources, such as solar panels from 1st October.

With the current climate emergency, the HMRC should be encouraging renewables by removing VAT not increasing it.

Battery Storage for your solar PV system is now an affordable option.
Recently installed system with 6kWp of solar panels and 12kWh of battery storage. The batteries allow storage of surplus power for use during the day and night when demand can't be met by the solar panels.
Since it was installed 16 days ago the customer has only bought 6 units of electricity which cost about £1.

When your roof is not suitable for solar panels there are other options. This customer wanted somewhere to park her car and a garden store. She can now do both and also has a 4.2 kW solar PV system.

Hello Smart Export Guarantee!

Goodbye Feed in Tariff and goodbye Export Tariff

Even before the Smart Export Guarantee is confirmed some electricity suppliers are already offering to buy your electricity at a rate equivalent or slightly higher than the old export tariff.
If you didn't install solar panels before the 1st April 2019 you haven't missed out.

Check your tariff, change to So Energy, save £20 and donate £20 to Rowcroft Hospice

Nearly all energy suppliers have increased prices this year. Most by about 5% but some by more than 10%. The Co-Op have just increased theirs by 5.2%. The easiest way to check if you can get a better rate is to use a price comparison web site such as Uswitch.
Watch out for tempting offers where you pay a lower rate for usually 12 months then automatically get moved to the standard variable rate which is far higher. By the time you've moved to a new supplier you've paid them more than you saved.

If you decide to change to So Energy using the link below you will be paid £20. I will also be paid £20 but i will donate this to Rowcroft Hospice.
So Energy are a 100% renewable energy company and the rate you pay is guaranteed to be in the top 10% of cheapest rates
