The photovoltaic effect is a simple process that converts sunlight into electricity! Here is how it works:

* It starts with the solar cells absorbing photons from a light source such as the sun.�
* When solar cells absorb light energy, this charges the semiconductors in the cell creating a p-n type junction.�
* This charges the cell and generates electricity.�
* This unfortunately wastes some solar energy. This is because the light energy taken in by the solar cell is dissipated as heat. This is what creates the low percentage efficiency.

You’ll be using scaffolding and ladders to access roofs, armed with specialist kit that allows you to install protection to the sides of solar panels. This mesh stops pests getting under the panels, but often our customers have already been invaded. 99.9% of the time there will be a couple of pigeons under the panels, who will fly away when you get close, or we use certified safe techniques to scare the pigeons away.

You will be working directly with the Operations Manager and may interact with clients, though mostly you will be working in a small team, driving round the country in brand new VW transporter and saving our customers.

Health & safety plays a significant part in this role, so you will be trained and follow company guidelines that keep everyone safe. We care about your safety and do everything we can to keep you safe. Safety gear is provided.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR THE RIGHT CANDIDATES

Roof work experience

Comfortable with heights

Does a good job first time

Not afraid of birds or squirrels

Experience working with scaffolding

Experience in a physical job and working as a team

THE PERFECT CANDIDATES WILL ALSO HAVE

Works well in a team

Full UK driving license

Loves to see new places

Looking to travel around the UK for free

Drive to progress into leadership or specialist roles over time.
