5 tonnes of soil shifted by hand over 2 days. Back breaking!! Now the garden slopes away from the house with damp issues...

5 tonnes of soil shifted by hand over 2 days. Back breaking!! Now the garden slopes away from the house with damp issues... drainage ditch installed 2ft deep 12 inches wide x 2 1/2 m long. Had to stop at the gas meter. Overgrown hedge (4 x 1 ton bags) cut back and lowered, ivy removed from walls and window and scrap wood gate made and hung with latch. Slabs realigned. Rear door and window next while my back recovers... repair rotted sill (home to a family of slugs) and rotted door base repair. Then: w**d control webbing pinned onto front garden once raked even and travelled. Then, onto the inside to remove all rotted skirting, replace floor boards.remove plasterto brick, stabilise, dpm and dry line with new plaster board wall around chimney breast . All good fun.... very happy tenants bough me a lovely plant and card to say thank you🥰

Next job.... replace broken ridge tiles. Repeat loose ones, move shifted pan tiles back into place, remove chimney cap to fit new pot and bird/ rain cowl and flaunching. Clean stack, treat brickwork with storm guard, reset flashing and seal.
Customer currently has water leak in strong winds.
Ultimately, the whole roof needs to come off and be redone... new battens, new membrane and retired. Tiles are in good shape, just a bit mobile in places. Customer need not concern themselves about that though at nearly 90 years of age. The felt has long gone, so, where necessary, I'll lift tiles and retrospectively fit patches of membrane for the time being....

Prep and paint roadside pebble dash wall, fix loo, revamp garden bench and fit new airing cupboard. Lastly, remove old boiler flu from roof and close up with Marley Mendip granular, brown concrete tiles from AJW roofing in Norwich. Very hard to find these tiles, but worth the effort... now hard to see where I've been... sadly, the loft had been spray foam insulated, so a straight forward roof closure became a 5 hour mission to remove enough foam to move the surrounding tiles. In the end, I gave up and approached from a different angle and... all done! Very hot day: 32 degrees on the roof, 38 degrees in the loft!!🥵🥵🥵

Nightmare to dig out rotted post. 3 ft underground and still soaking timber. Eventually sharp sand and gravel 6 inches for better drainage in heavy clay soil, then new 6x6 post in, weather cap cut, hinges bolted on and Bob's your uncle!
