Another completion. This one a 912ULS Swift 3 600 - the latest version of the Swift, with Nynja front end composites and firewall, engine mount etc but retaining the fabric covered rear fuselage of the Skyranger and Swift.

Empty weight with all the options in it was just over 280kg, a massive 320kg below the 600kg maximum takeoff weight.

Test flight was nice and uneventful with no adjustments required. Owner David should have many hours of enjoyment flying her!

Hot on the heels of Fridays first flight, today I had the pleasure of birthing another! - almost identical - and with very similar spec - Nynja 600 912ULS with E-Prop.

Well done to Toby Chapman for building such a magnificent beast - may you have many hours of pleasure flying in it!

Had a fun weekend flying in the UK’s first dedicated short takeoff and landing (STOL) competition at Breighton. Up against some STOL specialist aircraft like the Zenair 701 and Carbon Cub, I am pleased to report the mighty Nynja won! Both in class and with the best overall score.

I was using a non modified Nynja 600, - and not a light one either being the 600kg version and with the extra weight of wing tanks and 600- 8 tyres, and me at not much shy of 100kg... It has the standard braking system and a standard Kievprop 283, pitched for a reasonably modest 5200 static RPM.

The winning score was 68M combined - 29M takeoff and land and stop 39M beyond the line.

So if you are wondering whether the Nynja is a short field capable aeroplane - here is the proof! And it’s also a great tourer with lots of range, lots of payload and useful cruise speed. The most affordable 600kg microlight too! And a blast to fly!

Thanks to the guys at Breighton for hosting the comp, and the other competitors for great company. Looking forwards to the next one!
