At Forterra, restoring and responsibly managing former quarry sites is an important part of our commitment to protecting and enhancing biodiversity.

This year's 48-hour BioBlitz at Kings D**e Nature Reserve provides another encouraging measure of that progress. Volunteers and wildlife experts identified a record 1,010 species, including 72 species never before recorded at the reserve, while also achieving the site's highest-ever moth count.

The annual BioBlitz plays an important role in monitoring biodiversity, helping us understand how habitats are developing and informing future conservation work. Today, around 3,400 species have been recorded at Kings D**e – demonstrating what's possible through long-term habitat restoration and stewardship.

As Tim Darling, Head of Land & Mineral Resources at Forterra, says:

"Kings D**e demonstrates how restored mineral sites can become thriving ecosystems that deliver lasting benefits for nature."

We're proud to have played a part in a project that will support learning and community life for many years to come.

Respecting the past. Designing for the future.

That's exactly what makes Napiershall Street a deserving finalist in the Urban Regeneration category at the 2026 BDA Brick Awards.

This impressive Glasgow development has transformed a former school and its neglected surroundings into a vibrant residential community, demonstrating how thoughtful regeneration can preserve heritage while creating places for modern living.

The new residential building complements the restored sandstone school through carefully considered material choices. Forterra's Farmstead Antique brick, together with bespoke brick specials, helps create a contemporary architectural expression that sits comfortably alongside the historic building.

Congratulations to Collective, Properties and the wider project team on this well-deserved recognition.

Thoughtful design. Strong placemaking. Award recognition.

Greenholme Street has earned its place on the shortlist for the Medium Housing Development (26-100 units) category at this year's BDA Brick Awards.

Rather than simply delivering new homes, the development creates a genuine sense of place. Inspired by Glasgow's traditional tenement architecture, it combines contemporary design with welcoming communal spaces to create a neighbourhood that feels connected to its surroundings.

Material choice plays an important role in bringing that vision to life. Forterra's Granite Ash and Bamford Blend bricks provide texture, warmth and depth across the façades, helping create a development with a distinctive identity that will stand the test of time.

Congratulations to Collective, Homes Ltd, &P Bricklaying Services Ltd and everyone involved in this fantastic project. It's great to see your work recognised.

Three nominations. One remarkable restoration.

Chelsea Waterfront – Powerhouse has been shortlisted in three categories at the 2026 BDA Brick Awards, recognising one of the UK's most impressive examples of heritage-led regeneration.

🏆 Urban Regeneration
🏆 Refurbishment
🏆 Craftsmanship

Originally built in 1904 as Lots Road Power Station, the Grade II listed landmark has been carefully restored and adapted for modern living while retaining the industrial character that has defined the Thames waterfront for more than a century.

A carefully considered approach to brickwork conservation was central to the project. Forterra's London Brick Common Bricks were selected alongside reclaimed bricks to ensure repairs blended seamlessly with the original masonry, helping preserve the building's distinctive character for future generations.

Congratulations to Architects , , Property Group, and everyone involved in bringing this exceptional building back to life. To receive recognition across three award categories is a fantastic achievement.

At St Andrews Drive, carefully selected brickwork helps deliver a development that feels both contemporary and enduring, contributing to a streetscape with character and visual appeal.

The choice of materials plays an important role in creating places that remain attractive for generations, which is why brick continues to be one of the UK's most trusted façade materials.

Projects like this show how considered product selection can enhance both design quality and long-term performance.

There was plenty of laughter, friendly competition and community spirit at our Northampton Head Office as colleagues came together to celebrate Red Nose Day 🎈

From “pin the red nose” to egg and spoon races, cup stacking challenges, a retro round of Pac-Man, Tombola's and even the all-important “guess the sweets in the jar” — the day was packed with fun. Of course, no fete would be complete without a fantastic selection of home-baked treats, generously made and enjoyed across the team 🍰

Together, colleagues raised an amazing £257 in support of Comic Relief — a brilliant achievement for a very worthy cause.

At Forterra, supporting our communities and making a positive impact is a key part of our core strategy. Through initiatives like our Local Charity Initiative Scheme, we’re proud to empower colleagues and communities to support causes that matter most — whether through fundraising, volunteering or direct project support. Events like this reflect not only our commitment to social responsibility, but also the strong sense of teamwork and culture we’re proud to build every day.
