Solar Together or not? A cautionary note...
Residents may have recently received more sales communications from local councils regarding the Solar Together Scheme, which has previously intimated that the Council's bulk buying power results in lower prices for householders on solar installations.
Please note, this is a scheme operated by a private overseas company in which councils around the UK insert themselves as the middle man and take a margin.
Councils ask installers like my company, Sunpro Solar to bid on multiple contracts, often blind. Installers have not visited the properties so do not know what they will be facing when they get there to do the install.
As they would at that point be bound by contract to complete the install, no installer wants to be caught on the wrong side of the quote, so naturally ramp up the cost to make sure they are covered.
I recently installed a Solar and Battery system for my brother in law, which I had to properly quote for, and did at the same rate as I would charge any other customer.
When I completed the install asked him - "Did you give me the job because I was your brother in law or because I was the cheapest?"
He replied "Well, both really"
"Ah!" I said, "how much cheaper was I than Solar Together?"
"over £2000" he replied.
So, if you are considering going with Solar Together or any other installer, we'd really appreciate chance to quote. I think you might be pleasantly surprised on the price. We are currently installing 10 panel systems and a battery for £7950, or just solar with grid export for under £5000.
We use superb equipment from a great British company, GivEnergy (as recommended by Octopus Energy and E-on).

Did you know that if you have a Solar Feed in Tariff (FiT) you can add batteries to your existing system and still get paid by the grid for 100% of the electric you generate? - whether you use it or not! Please contact us for more details or to arrange a survey - we NEVER sell on site and surveys take no more than 40 minutes!
We specialise in inverter changes, adding batteries and doing the maintenance and aftersales services that many providers don't!
