Wall protection extrusions take a hit so your walls don't have to.

This video shows ours being made – EPDM compound shaped through the die, cut to length, hand-coiled onto spinning boards, and racked before going into the autoclave where heat and pressure cure it into a finished product with the hardness and resilience to do its job properly.

EPDM is the material of choice here: excellent impact resistance, outstanding durability, and highly resistant to UV, ozone and weathering. Exactly what you want on a wall.

🖤 From raw rubber to finished component: here's how compression moulding works at Walker Rubber.

1️⃣ Every part starts with preparation. Metal inserts are cleaned and coated with a solvent adhesive before the moulding plates are heated in the press – getting everything up to temperature – around 165ºC – before the moulding begins.

2️⃣ The rubber is weighed to a precise specification. Getting the weight right helps ensure a consistent, even thickness across every single moulded component.

3️⃣ Once the inserts and rubber are loaded and the compression plate is in place, the press does its job, applying pressure equivalent to 30 tonnes!

4️⃣ When the plates come out, a hammer knocks the components free from their housing, and what you're left with are parts that still need one final step: trimming the flash by hand with a Stanley knife.
