How do race teams prepare for circuits they’ve never driven before?

A recent Auto Online article highlights how Honda Racing Corporation is using its high-fidelity, dynamic Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL) simulator in Indianapolis to help prepare for new IndyCar street circuits.

For street circuits where important details such as localised grip, kerbs, surfaces and barriers can vary, DIL simulation provides an opportunity to:

· Build driver familiarity
· Evaluate vehicle setups
· Reduce uncertainty
· Maximise limited track time

By combining modelled vehicle data and LiDAR-scanned environments developed by rFpro within an engineering-class DIL simulation lab, race teams can test new circuits and car setups before the race weekend ever begins.

Hyundai Motor Group is advancing its virtual vehicle development capabilities with a new Delta S3 DIL simulator at the Namyang R&D Center.

The turn-key simulator ecosystem features our high-fidelity Stratiform 3 dynamic motion system, a panoramic display driven by nine 4K projectors at 240 Hz for complete visual immersion, a quick-change carbon fibre cabin, micro-vibration feedback systems for suspension and tyre performance validation, and real-time, photorealistic world-space graphics and Terrain Server capabilities powered by rFpro.

The high-fidelity simulator lab enables engineers to evaluate vehicle dynamics, perform autonomous driving verifications and accelerate decision-making before physical prototypes are built. By reducing development time while supporting Hyundai, Kia and Genesis development programs, this investment highlights the growing role of simulation in delivering better vehicles to customers, faster.

Excited to announce the launch of Delta T1 Sport – a new class of Driver-in-the-Loop simulators that combines full 6 DoF dynamics, ultra-low latency, immersive driver feedback, and seamless connectivity to racing toolsets in a uniquely compact and accessible package.

Designed for single-seater and cockpit racing series – such as Super Formula, LMP2, LMH, LMDh, Formula E, F2, F3, F4 and Formula Regional categories – Delta T1 Sport removes many of the traditional barriers to high-fidelity DIL simulation, including footprint, infrastructure complexity, and cost of ownership. Delta T1 Sport features our all-new, patented Triform motion system and new vision system configurations that maximise rFpro-enabled real-time visualisation and high-speed rendering.

Proud to see Lola Cars adopt the first production unit at its Silverstone headquarters to support its ABB FIA Formula E program and future engineering initiatives.

We're pleased to announce one of the next steps in our continuing partnership with AVL Mobility Technologies, Inc.: AVL VSM software can now be offered directly with the full range of Ansible Motion’s DIL simulators. This one-two punch in virtual development allows users to develop components and vehicles more quickly by significantly reducing development, testing and validation time and cost.

AVL has also installed an Ansible Motion Theta Seat simulator in their Ann Arbor, Michigan Technical Center so customers can test drive the AVL VSM + Ansible Motion combo!
