Hope you all had a great Bank Holiday weekend! Just like that we are into September! We thought we’d start the month with an update on our workshop extension and as you can see from the latest photo here, things are really starting to take shape.

The builders are on site, as we speak and are making brilliant progress, with the front blockwork wall now being constructed. The doors are due to be installed next week! The aim is to get the building weathertight and ready for the autumn weather, a great step forward in the project and will give us a much clearer idea of the finished space. It’s exciting to see the extension progressing from plans on paper.

Did you see the light show over Nottinghamshire last night?

The lightning was absolutely off the scale, spectacular to watch and with it came a serious deluge of rain, which of course, we all need. Thankfully, things are a little quieter on the weather front today!

While the skies have cleared, our engineers are busy out on site carrying out welding repairs for one of our valued regular customers - a national plant hire company.

Whether it’s a repair or maintenance work, our team is always kean to get stuck in and keep our customers’ equipment working safely and reliably.

JULY NEWSLETTER - Commemorating the 110th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme

Welcome to our July newsletter!

This month Yates Engineering was pleased to support a very special project, led by Roger Merryweather of Southwell in Nottinghamshire, by manufacturing the plinth for a special Robin Hood statuette. This was to be presented to the Mayor of Foncquevillers, France, during this year's commemorations marking the 110th anniversary of the first day of the Battle of the Somme. The presentation provided a fitting and lasting tribute to the men of the 7th (Robin Hood) Battalion, Sherwood Foresters.

Workshop Extention Update 😍

Things are moving fast! Our new workshop extension has come on incredibly quickly and so much progress has been made in such a short space of time. What was just a building site, in our last post, is now starting to look like a fully functioning workshop. There's still a little work to do but nearly there!

We're very grateful for everyone involved for their hard work and commitment in keeping the project moving!

We can't wait to share the finished result soon!

🚜 **Tractor Coast-to-Coast Challenge Update** 🚜

Today's journey took the team to the famous Tan Hill Inn for lunch – Britain's highest pub, standing at an incredible 1,732ft (528m) above sea level.

This historic 17th-century pub is truly unique, operating off grid with its own electricity generation and water supplied from a natural spring. It was a fantastic stop on our coast to coast adventure in aid of Cancer Research UK

A huge thank you to everyone supporting us along the way. Your encouragement and donations are helping us raise vital funds for charity.

Charity Coast-to-Coast Tractor Challenge Gets Underway

David Yates of Yates Engineering and his team have officially begun their coast-to-coast charity tractor challenge in aid of Cancer Research UK

After arriving in Ravenglass yesterday, the team set off at around 9am this morning on the first leg of their five day journey across the country. Before departing, the four vintage tractors were photographed on the beach at Ravenglass under beautiful blue sky, marking the start of another memorable fundraising adventure.

David is joined by Steve Tooley, Stewart Marshall and Ben Craig as they travel from the West Coast at Ravenglass to Robin Hood’s Bay on the East Coast. The challenge will see the team cover the route over five days, with planned overnight stops in Ambleside and Leyburn before reaching their destination on Friday.

Adding to the challenge, three of the four vintage tractors have no cabs, leaving the drivers exposed to whatever weather conditions the week may bring.

The tractors will be familiar to many followers of David and Steve’s previous fundraising efforts, having been used in their remarkable 2008 charity journey from Land’s End to John O’ Groats, a challenge that took two weeks to complete.

We are following the team's progress and wish them well as they embark on this latest adventure in support of Cancer Research UK.

Anyone wishing to support David, Steve, Stewart and Ben and help raise money for this worthwhile cause can donate via their JustGiving page:

https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/davids-giving-page-28676043

We will bring further updates from their journey as they make their way across the country.
