Stathern Project.
1st Phase - Office Extension

We started a new job in Stathern, Melton Mowbray back in November, here's some photos from the 1st phase of the project.

Kieran and Louise bought two semi-detached houses and want us to turn them into a single property, knocking down an old garage to build an extension for Kieran's office to the side of the property, and then knocking down a double story extension out the back to build a new double storey, open plan kitchen/living space with master bedroom above.

No expense is being spared to achieve their dream home here, so I am very excited to see the finish product on this one!

Landed the two big steels in place today on the Cotgrave job, these two will be holding up the first floor and the rest of the steels to carry the external brickwork.

Both steels are going to be painted and exposed below the ceiling as is the internal brickwork in the open plan living room/kitchen area, all with an aim to giving the main living space a tidy but industrial feel.

Now, you can't just buy padstones to fit (73mm) imperial bricks off the rack so in order to achieve a high quality finish and maintain schedule i decided to cast the exposed padstones on-site and i'm very happy how they turned out too!

Lots of measuring, thinking and then measuring again went into this one and it worked beautifully, today was a good day.

In other news...

Keown (the new apprentice) and myself have toiling away through the winter building a huge extension for my mates Frankie and Georgie, they are really going to town on this one!
Exposed brickwork and steels in the front room/kitchen, fully covering the original house with double story extension and render/timber cladding on anything else left in view...
Sunken polished concrete firepit area out the the back, looking forward to seeing this one completed!

Been waiting a while to post the pictures from this one.
I built the wall last summer using the stone from a wall previously demolished across the road, i tried out a different pointing style on with this one and i'm very happy with the result!
Originally the clients wanted reclaimed paving as they wanted the area to fit seamlessly with the period the house was built and its surroundings, unfortunately we weren't able to find enough at any one time so it was decided we wait until they could find something agreeable...
After alot of searching they found some pavers they liked, I decided to lay them set on a bed of fibre concrete with 5mm joints, finished off with ultrascape flowpoint grout, both myself and the client are very happy with the result!

Finished up an extension/patio job in Gamston today, we were originally there just to do the brickwork for Bridgfords Carports & Conservatories ready for them to fit the new windows, GRP roof and complete interiors but was then asked if i had time for a quick patio after the brickwork was done..
The "quick patio job" snowballed from relaying some old slabs in the garden to a brand new porcelain patio area with timber sleeper surround and paths out to the front with anthracite edgings ...
First time working with porcelain slabs and i'm glad i took it on.. they look amazing and they are much easier to hump about!
