We’re proud to support Action Change in providing safe, inspiring learning spaces for children in South Africa. Their latest newsletter shared that Bhongolethu Primary School’s roof requires urgent repairs before the weather turns. A safe space to learn is vital, so we’ve stepped in to cover the remaining funds. Hopefully, the work can now be completed over the Easter break, but there is still so much more that needs support.

Looking for a way to reduce cost and improve the finish of large frame fabrications without compromising strength? A customer came to us with just that challenge.

Traditional spot welding delivers strength, but it requires the assembly to be completed before powder coating and can leave visible marks depending on material thickness. Coating large frame fabrications also creates a lot of dead space and idle time on an automated powder coating line. You end up moving a lot of air but very little material, which can be costly in production hours.

Working with Press-Form Machinery Ltd, we developed bespoke tooling for our Haeger presses to introduce a crimping solution that joins sheet metal components without screws or .

The key advantages are that crimping can be carried out after powder coating, set-up is simpler and requires less operator input, and it produces a consistent, uniform fixing dimple every time.

By powder coating frames in smaller sections and assembling them afterwards, we can:
▪ Push more parts through the paint line
▪ Use less space per job
▪ Improve consistency and appearance
▪ Reduce overall manufacturing cost

✔ A more efficient process, a consistent finish and better use of capacity, making it more cost effective for our customers.
