I always like to pop a 360 here to show the level of detail and work that goes into a carving. The back may never get looked at but knowing the symmetry, shape, finish and shine is just as good as the front makes me happy!

I recently completed an amazing 3 (F) piece, like the last one, but this time on a larger stage 2 Peggy! One mistake and it’s a write-off so I always get nervous thinking about which bit to file and hacksaw first!! 😂🫣🫣

Here’s where the last post went. A raised centre section to raise the side profile higher and a new magnet system to allow all pieces to sit in place securely and strong enough to give a feel of movement in the centre with the nose wheel raised. Video to follow.

It’s been an odd month that led to a slow down of blades going out but here is the starting steps of a 3F Squadron piece. It’s a 3 blade cut as it really needed a taller wickets and Cockatrice to give it more impact and not squashed. I’d usually use one blade and halve it but as an ex 3F myself I didn’t care about losing a second blade for this! It had to look right! The two outers are stage 2 Pegasus with a central stage 3 for the side profile GR3.
How it’s starts…

I often do multiples of the same design so don’t post these but wanted to show another 55 sqn one with a plaque to finish it off nicely.

A good display base is just as important as the blade carvings and polishing! Why make it simple when you can use over 50 parts to create it all!

360 degree. There are a few black compound bits visible as it was test fit on the mount before final polish. The mount are actually Airbus parts cut and layered to keep the stator in place.

It feels so good to finally do a 3(f) Squadron piece! On a lovely grained solid oak base this time finished until smooth with about 12 coats of danish oil. Super detailed piece but an absolute pleasure to make and even had a bit of room to add the 3F detail to make it even more fiddly! 😂Feel free to share this one!
