Turning a school roof into a £1 million saving. ☀️🏫
Now that’s what we call making the most of your roof space.
We’re excited to see Green Tech Hub featured in the Lancashire Telegraph following our work on the new solar PV project at in Blackburn.
The project is designed to make the most of the school’s available roof space, turning an area that would otherwise sit unused into a long-term source of renewable energy generating around 112,000 kWh of electricity each year and helping deliver significant savings on the school’s energy costs.
And the numbers speak for themselves…
- Potential savings of around £1 million
- 137kWp Solar PV across the school’s available roof space
- 112,000kWh of renewable electricity generated annually
- More than 50 tonnes of CO₂ emissions avoided annually
For us, this is exactly what commercial solar should be about.
It’s about taking underused space and turning it into something that delivers real, measurable value, not just today, but for decades to come. With the right design, a commercial roof can become a significant source of renewable energy, reduce operating costs and provide a long-term return on investment.
And that’s where good design really matters. Every commercial building is different, so we look at the available roof space, energy consumption, system performance and the long-term needs of the customer to create a solution that makes the most of the opportunity.
We’re incredibly proud to be involved in this project and can’t wait to see the finished system generating clean energy for Pleckgate High School.
A big thank you to the Lancashire Telegraph for featuring the project.
