Junior Fleet Maintenance Technician | Commercial Vehicles / HGV
Location: Orpington, Kent
Salary: up to £34k (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours:
• Monday – Friday: 06:45 – 16:45 (1 hour break)
• Alternate Saturdays: 06:45 – 12:30 (30-minute break)
Holiday Entitlement:
• 20 days annual leave + 8 Bank Holidays

Job Overview
Are you a recently qualified mechanic looking to build a career in commercial vehicles or HGV maintenance?
We are recruiting a Junior Fleet Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and repair of a commercial vehicle fleet operating in a live transport environment. This role is ideal for candidates with a Level 2 Motor Vehicle qualification who want hands on experience working on vans, trucks, and HGVs.
You will work alongside an experienced Senior Fleet Technician, gaining exposure to real world fleet maintenance, workshop operations, and running repairs.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist with vehicle maintenance and running repairs across a commercial fleet
• Support HGV servicing and inspections (training provided)
• Assist with tyre inspections, tyre replacement, and tyre management
• Carry out basic fault finding and diagnostics
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workshop environment
• Liaise with the transport and fleet operations team to minimise vehicle downtime
• Support compliance with roadworthiness and fleet safety standards

Essential Requirements:
• Interest in HGV mechanics, fleet maintenance, or commercial vehicles
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure
• Positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Preferred Requirements but will be considered for right candidate
• Basic diagnostic and fault finding skills
• Level 2 Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification (or equivalent)
• Clean driving licence car and class 2 HGV
