💗 LIFE in Action

Today, colleagues at Head Office came together for our "Wear It Pink" quiz in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

Whether it was wearing pink, taking part in the quiz, or contributing to our fundraising efforts, it was great to see so many people getting involved for a cause that touches the lives of so many.

Congratulations to Abdul, our Graduate Accountant, who won the quiz and received a £25 voucher.

𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃 𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐅 𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐁 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐃 – 𝐀 𝐌𝐀𝐉𝐎𝐑 𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐄

On 20th of October, we successfully completed the Head House roof slab, marking a significant milestone in the delivery of this technically challenging structure, constructed alongside an operational railway line.

Key Project Highlights:

- 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞: A 1,250 m² reinforced concrete Head House constructed within a highly constrained environment.

- 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬: A 1 m-thick base slab, vertical elements up to 8.5 m high and 700 mm wide, cast in a single lift, and a 350 mm-thick roof slab.

- 𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬: A triple-height formwork and falsework system designed to support both vertical and horizontal construction activities.

- 𝐑𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Approximately 985 tonnes of steel reinforcement, with bar diameters ranging from 16 mm to 40 mm.

- 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Double-sided formwork and two tower cranes supporting the complex construction activities.

The works presented significant challenges due to tight logistical constraints, restricted working space and the proximity of the operational railway. Through meticulous planning, technical expertise, effective coordination and strong teamwork, we successfully overcame these challenges and achieved this important milestone. This achievement reflects the team's engineering capabilities, construction expertise and unwavering commitment to successful project delivery.

Completion of the Head House roof slab unlocks significant opportunities for subsequent construction activities, including steel frame installation and internal and external fit-out works, enabling the next phase of the overall Head House construction to progress.
