Meet John Matley. He applied when we advertised a vacancy and joined GWR in May 2021.
An excellent appointment. Although we didn’t realise the workshop entertainment was included 😂
Five years on, he’s such an integral part of GWR that it’s hard to imagine the place without him.
John looks after all our round bar and threaded bar stock, cutting it to the lengths needed for stock or specific customer orders. He also keeps the workshop in order, which is no small task with this lot around.
He works incredibly hard, he’s a lovely person, and everyone likes him. Some people just make a workplace better. John is one of them.
I was in our Oswestry factory taking machine photos and action shots when he gave me this pose. No staging, no prompting. Just John deciding that several tonnes of CNC machinery were no match for his star quality 🤣📸
And honestly, he’s got a point.
So this post is for you, John. Thank you for everything you do and for being you. We’re very lucky to have you ❤️
