Three things we come back to on every build, without fail.

Natural light isn’t an add-on. It’s the design decision the whole room is planned around. Which direction the space faces, where the glazing goes, whether a rooflight earns its place.

Get this right and the room feels alive from the moment you step in.

Honest craftsmanship is what happens when nobody’s watching. The joinery detail behind the fascia. The reveal around the door frame. The corners nobody photographs but everyone notices, eventually.

And a building that still looks right in ten years’ time is what these two things together give you.

Not a garden room that peaks in the first week and slowly disappoints. One that holds its own as the garden grows around it and becomes part of how you live.

Sometimes it’s just an extra room. Warm lighting, a proper sofa, a view back to the main house across the garden.

An extension in every sense except the planning application.

Somewhere to sit in the evening with a book and a drink, watching the kitchen lights on across the lawn. Somewhere to put the friends who stay too late. Somewhere the family drifts to when the sofa in the living room is full.

The building at the bottom of the garden becomes part of how the house is used, not separate from it.

The bit of the roof edge where the fascia meets the cladding cleanly. The way an outdoor light sits flush against the wall rather than proud of it. The corner join where two runs of timber meet without a visible seam. The reveal around a door frame that lines up with the cladding course above and below.

None of this is what sells a garden room. What sells one is the idea of the space, the light in the morning, the walk down the path with a coffee.

The details are what make it feel right for years to come.

The dark cladding, the bamboo, the deck spilling out in front. Some garden rooms are built to blend in. This one was designed with a clear mood in mind.

Japanese-inspired in its feel, but fully practical in the way all our builds are. Insulated, well-lit inside, and fitted with full-width glazed doors that open the space up on days like this one.
