Meet Seb and Camilla.
A builder and a fine artist living in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, with their two young children. Before returning to the UK three years ago, the pair spent almost a decade living in Amsterdam, where their shared appetite for creativity, design, and risk-taking first began to shape how they approached homes and spaces.
When the time came to move back to the UK to be closer to family while raising their children, they began searching for a property with potential. The house they eventually purchased, a 1903 Edwardian property, was actually viewed for the first time by Camilla’s sister, as they weren’t able to fly back in time themselves. In fact, they put an offer in sight unseen.
Fortunately, when they eventually saw the house before completion, it confirmed what they had hoped.
They had fallen completely in love with it.
The façade, the street, and the building’s character all hinted at the potential beneath years of neglect. What they were buying wasn’t just a house; it was a project.
Although this renovation would turn out to be their biggest project to date, it wasn’t their first experience of transforming a property.
“We’d both done renovation projects before we met, and also worked on a couple together in Amsterdam,” they say. “But this one was definitely on another scale.”
