What a day… and what an experience.

Today I attended my very first Utility Warehouse annual conference, Power Up, at the Telford International Centre.

To say I was inspired would be an understatement.

Being surrounded by thousands of Team Purple members, all with different stories, backgrounds and journeys, really brings home what this business is all about. Real people, helping real people, and building something meaningful along the way.

One of the standout moments for me was being recognised for my promotion, in front of nearly 5000 people.

Humbled doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Moments like that make you stop and reflect. This isn’t something that happens overnight. It takes time, consistency and a belief that what you’re building will pay off.

Today reinforced something I already knew.

I can do this.

Massive congratulations to everyone recognised today, and thank you to everyone who continues to support, encourage and inspire me on this journey.

Following on from my earlier post about bundling…

Let me add something important.

This isn’t about convincing anyone.

It’s about showing what’s possible when things are set up properly.

The customer I mentioned didn’t get lucky.

He didn’t stumble across a one-off deal.

He made a decision to review what he was doing… and allowed me to help him structure things in a smarter way.

That’s it.

No gimmicks.

No magic.

Just a better way of doing things.

Too many people stick with what they know, even when it’s costing them more every single month.

Same suppliers.

Same habits.

Same rising bills.

Meanwhile, others are quietly making changes and benefiting from them.

I hear this quite often.

Usually from people who either don’t fully understand how it works… or simply haven’t seen it in action.

Well, I’m sat here right now with one of my customers, and I can tell you this…

He absolutely gets it 👍

Over the last twelve months, since I helped him switch, he’s been saving consistently and more importantly, he’s happy.

His latest bill (for February, paid on March 31)?

£9.99.

That’s for energy, broadband and two mobile SIMs.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Normally, his bill would be £150.99, but with the Warm Home Discount (as a senior citizen) applied, it brings it right down.

Now that’s what I call a result.

This isn’t just about numbers though.

He’s on the vulnerable register due to a couple of health reasons, which means he gets that extra level of care and support and that matters just as much as the savings.

Today’s visit was simply about checking in, making sure everything is as it should be and continuing to look after him properly.

He’s currently fixed on his energy until May 31, and I’ll be back in touch shortly to secure his next fixed rate.

No stress, no guesswork, just good old fashioned service.

Here’s the question…

Why wouldn’t you want to be on a fixed rate right now?

A new day… and another reminder that doing nothing with your energy bills might just be the most expensive option of all.

The latest numbers are out, and they’re quite telling.

The weighted average of the next 4 price caps is sitting at £1,969.

That’s based on real usage… because we all know we use far more energy when it’s cold than when the sun decides to make a rare appearance ☀️

Now here’s where it gets interesting…

👉 Add just ONE service and you’re already saving around £35 on that average
👉 Add TWO services and fix your tariff, and that saving jumps to around £185
👉 Homeowner? That’s an extra £100 cashback
👉 Add another service and you pick up an additional £50 cashback

That’s not small change… that’s meaningful money back in your pocket.

And while the so-called experts are now saying:

“If you can find a fix that’s up to 11% ABOVE the January price cap, you’ll likely save…”

Only around 1.4% above.

💡 Energy Standing Charges Are Changing From April 1, 2026

There has been a lot of debate about standing charges on energy bills over the past few years, and now we are finally seeing a small change.

From April 1, 2026, standing charges in England, Scotland and Wales are set to fall by around £39 per year for the average household.

Standing charges are the daily fee you pay simply for having gas or electricity connected to your home. Even when you use nothing, the meter still ticks away.

For many households this currently adds up to around £330 a year.

The Government has confirmed that the cost of funding the Warm Home Discount scheme will no longer be included in these standing charges. Instead, those costs will move into the unit rate, which is the price you pay for each kilowatt hour (kWh) of energy you actually use.

Many people have argued that high standing charges penalise households who try to reduce their energy usage. Lowering them has been a long-running topic of discussion across the industry.

This change should slightly reduce the fixed part of your bill, although some of that cost will move into the usage rate.

Energy pricing remains complex and confusing for many people, which is why I spend a lot of time helping households understand their options and see whether they could be paying less.

A quick review costs nothing and could potentially save you money.

Not just because of the cards and chocolates, but because it’s the perfect excuse to talk about relationships… including the ones we have with our utilities.

Plenty of people are stuck in unhappy relationships with their energy, broadband or mobile provider.
