Taking off and landing a drone from a 20ft Orkney boat in the middle of Fowey Harbour was definitely a first for me!

I spent a fantastic afternoon out on the water with the team at Ruby's Ice Cream during the Fowey Royal Regatta - 3rd Week in August, capturing a mix of drone photos, video, and close-up DSLR stills for their social media and marketing team.

Capturing the team handing out ice creams to people on passing boats and jet skis. Combining boat-level photography with aerial tracking gave a brilliant mix of content that really captures the energy of the regatta season, and the harbour in general.

A huge thanks to the team for having me onboard (literally!). Here’s a quick look at a few shots from a unique day on the water. 🍦🌊📸

🚀 No... I haven't flown into space! 😅

But if you're anything like me and love photography, you have to check out NASA's Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth.

We're not talking about small, compressed JPEGs either. You can browse thousands of images captured by astronauts during the Artemis II mission, and on many of the image pages you can even download the original camera RAW files to see exactly what the astronauts captured through the lens. It's a photographer's dream!

Whether you're into photography, editing, or just want to see our planet from a perspective very few people ever will, it's well worth a look.

A recent project I had the pleasure of photographing for Rory’s wooden designs 📸🚁

This stunning garden office deserved to be shown from every angle, so I combined both ground photography and aerial imagery to capture not only the craftsmanship of the building itself, but also its incredible setting.

Projects like this are a great example of how drone photography complements traditional photography. The ground shots highlight the finer details and finishes, while the aerial images tell the bigger story - showing how the building sits within the garden itself.

The good news? No issues identified, meaning the system is performing exactly as it should. Regular thermal inspections are a great way to spot potential problems before they become costly ones - and in this case, everything was looking healthy.

It's been a little quiet on here recently... but behind the scenes, it's been anything but! 📸🚁

The past few weeks have been some of the busiest since starting HD Drone Photography, and I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who's trusted me with their projects.

As the business continues to grow, so do the services I offer. What started with drone photography has naturally evolved into more ground-based photography too (pardon the pun... it's really taken off! 😄).

Over the last few months I've had the pleasure of:
📍 Covering the West of England Bandsmen's Festival
📍 Photographing several events at The Par Inn
📍 Taking on social media management (have a look at The Par Inn's page!)
📍 Several commercial shoots for Faheys
📍 Carrying out solar inspections
📍 Capturing properties for sale
📍 And plenty more exciting projects across Cornwall and Devon.

One of my favourite photos recently is actually the first one in this post - Emily and our son Harry. ❤️ It was a reminder that, amongst all the work, it's important to capture the moments that matter most.
