Calport are looking for a hands-on, working Foreman to join our busy team in Perth.
This is a full-time, permanent role based at Perth Harbour.

Calport is a specialist port handling and storage business based at Perth Harbour. We handle fishmeal and aquaculture products, plus a wide range of bulk cargo arriving by vessel, container, and truck.
As one of Europeโs most inland ports (25 miles from the coast), weโre a clean, efficient gateway to the north of Scotland and the wider UK.
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐น๐ฒ:
This is not an office role. Youโll be on the ground every day โ operating machinery, loading/unloading bulk goods, servicing and maintaining equipment, and working side by side with the team.
At the same time, youโll be the โworking gafferโ โ leading by example, coordinating jobs, and making sure work is completed safely and efficiently.
In addition to port handling, youโll also take care of grounds maintenance, grass cutting and general groundcare around the harbour site and at other properties owned by our group.
We are also looking to expand the business into providing ๐ ๐ผ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ข๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด for machinery, slings, shackles and chains. The successful candidate will be expected to learn this role and take the lead in developing this new side of the business.
๐๐ฒ๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐:
โ Work alongside the team in daily loading/unloading of trucks, containers, and bulk tippers
โ Operate loading shovels, forklifts and port equipment on a regular basis
โ Take charge as the working foreman/gaffer: allocate jobs, set the pace, and lead by example
โ Bulk storekeeping: monitor stock (grain, fishmeal, feed commodities), rotation, hygiene checks, contamination control, and temperature monitoring
โ Machine servicing and maintenance: routine checks, greasing, fuelling, inspections, first-line repairs and downtime records
โ Manage slings and chain testing records and lifting gear inspections
โ Promote safe working practices: toolbox talks, near-miss reporting, good housekeeping
โ Support continuous improvement and keep operations running smoothly
โ Grounds maintenance and general groundcare: grass cutting, site upkeep, and estate maintenance at the harbour and other nearby sites
โ Learn and lead in delivering Mobile LOLAR testing for all machinery, slings, shackles and chains, helping to expand this new service within the business

โฆ Proven experience in heavy plant operations (loading shovels, forklifts)
โฆ Practical knowledge of bulk storekeeping (grain, feed, fishmeal or similar)
โฆ A good agricultural background with bulk handling experience
โฆ Solid skills in machine servicing and maintenance (schedules, routine servicing, first-line repairs)
โฆ Hands-on leadership style โ willing to work shoulder-to-shoulder with the team while taking responsibility for getting jobs done right
โฆ Full, clean driving licence and reliable timekeeping
โฆ Willingness to train and take responsibility for Mobile LOLAR testing services, leading this area of business growth
Desirable:
โฆ Background in port operations or feed commodity handling
โฆ Understanding of dust control and feed hygiene standards
โฆ Basic IT skills for logs and stock records
