Welcome to the August instalment of our 2026 Alitex Grow Guides… or rather, our No Guide. 🌿

This month, we’re doing something a little different.

Inspired by ’ recent article, and with so many gardens feeling the effects of prolonged hot, dry weather, we don’t feel it’s the right time to tell you what you should be doing. Instead, we’re taking a step back to observe, reflect and learn from what’s working – and what isn’t.

Rather than filling this month’s guide with advice, we’re leaving the page open. We’d love to hear what’s helping you and your garden through the season, whether it’s a watering tip, a planting success, or something you’ve read that’s changed the way you garden.

This summer, why not slow down and take the scenic route – see if you spot an glasshouse along the way? 🌿

Nestled in the heart of the New Forest, Lime Wood Hotel is home to one of our handcrafted Victorian glasshouses, where fruit, vegetables, herbs and edible flowers are grown just steps from the kitchen, inspiring beautifully seasonal menus. Its an absolute stunner!

From historic estates and country houses to luxury hotels and celebrated gardens, you might stumble across our glasshouses in some of Britain’s most remarkable places. Each one is a destination worth exploring, whether you’re looking for garden inspiration, planning a summer getaway or simply making the most of a day out.

This ¾ span lean-to greenhouse brings a timeless, grand character to a contemporary setting. Set within a private estate, it sits amongst gravel and established flower beds, finished in a special Farrow & Ball Pigeon colour chosen to match the wood used across the estate. Designed in aluminium to replicate the appearance of traditional timber, the greenhouse combines classic character with a clean, modern feel. Inside, it provides a productive growing space for vegetables and flowers, with planting arranged in raised brick beds and trained against the walls.

We’re incredibly proud to have sponsored The Cricket Pavilion Garden, which was awarded both an RHS Gold Medal and Best in Show at the inaugural RHS Badminton Flower Show. 💚

Designed by Steve Moody of Frogheath Landscapes in partnership with Young at Heart, the garden is inspired by the traditional village cricket pavilion – a place where people of all ages come together. Every detail tells a story, from the handcrafted pavilion and thoughtful planting to the produce, flowers and vegetables grown by the children and members of Young at Heart.

We were delighted to see our National Trust Mottisfont greenhouse at the heart of the garden, helping to bring Steve’s vision to life.

Congratulations once again to Steve, Rachel and everyone involved in creating such a deserving Best in Show and Gold Medal-winning garden.

We’re incredibly proud to be sponsoring this Gold and best in show award-winning garden at the inaugural RHS Badminton Flower Show. 💚

Designed by Steve Moody of in partnership with .heathfield , this cricket-themed garden celebrates the power of community, connection and wellbeing.

Many of the plants within the garden were grown by the children and members of Young at Heart, making it a truly collaborative project and a reflection of the incredible work the organisation does to bring generations together.

We’re also delighted to see our National Trust Mottisfont greenhouse take pride of place within the garden.

Congratulations to Rachel, everyone at Young at Heart, Steve and all those involved in creating such a deserving Gold award-winning garden. It’s been a privilege to support this inspiring project.
