Well in between other things we’ve managed to tickle on with the Riley and it’s now got it’s heart back in place! Just waiting on a couple more things to arrive and to bolt the last few pieces on and we shall be giving it a test fire!!

We’ve also started looking at the J*p 84s rebuild. It’s special in that it’s been modified in the distant past to take twin spark plugs! So will be interesting to see how it performs. Will be using a points conversion for ease of setting up twin spark which negates the mag platform. Just need to order up some more crank shims and valves as it seems to have gained a bent exhaust so may as well replace both for peace of mind too. Should go as well as it looks when it’s together as it’s all been glass bead blasted, nickle plated and painted!

Well after a few hectics days of sorting things out we’ve got some new toys in the workshop!! Got the big manual XYZ milling machine now set up and have the Tig welder in! Time to make plenty of swarf and melt metal!

Well the workshop is starting to fill up now with another car expected in this week!

We’ve got our 1968 Mk2 Cooper S Rally car in for some considerable work including new floor, sills and full mechanical sort out ready for some rallying action.

And we’ve got the Austin 7 Ulster Rep to complete for a customer. It’s got some really nice bits and is going to make a lovely car once finished.

And we’re off!!

So we’ve been on with a customers Riley 9 today. Due to its new fast road cams and extended valve timing duration, it meant that the valves were saying hello to the pistons. So valve pockets were duly machined into the pistons with precision using the CNC. A bit over the top but just waiting to get the manual mill installed.

That was followed by a dry build of one complete cylinder assembly to double check with the DTI what clearance the valve to piston had and were now happy the two are safe! So onwards and upwards!

Also been on with starting to make up some special tooling for some engine builds!
