Did you know that two RS boxes had a part to play in one of the most iconic scenes in TV history?

Only Fools and Horses… Batman and Robin… need we say more?

If you look closely, you’ll spot our iconic white and red boxes sitting behind Del and Rodney in their van. But how did they get there?

Let’s be honest... the Trotters weren’t exactly known for sourcing quality, reliable, authentic products from trusted suppliers like RS. So it doesn't make much sense.

But RS folklore, past down through generations, contains a plausible answer. David Jason is actually a trained electrician and qualified mechanic. And legend has it, those boxes were sitting in his car from projects he was working on outside of filming… and made an unplanned cameo on set.

In fact, his passion for engineering runs so deep that he went on to host David Jason’s Great British Inventions on Channel 4, in 2020.

So while Del Boy might have been dealing in… questionable goods… it turns out the real thing was in shot all along.

Lovely jubbly.

ON THIS DAY | In 1948, Ed Brown Jr., a former Navy pilot, opened a fly-in cinema near Wall Township, New Jersey. You could also drive in.

The theatre had space for 500 cars and 25 small planes could land in a nearby airfield and taxi over to the theatre.

👀👋Introducing Phil the Phoenix, our new sustainability mascot at the Corby Distribution Centre (DC).

Voted for by colleagues, Phil represents transformation and renewal, a fitting symbol for both Corby’s heritage and our ongoing efforts to reduce environmental impact.

Recent progress at our Corby DC includes:
✅Increasing recycled packaging content from 40% to 90% (from 2024)
✅Eliminating approximately 15 tonnes of plastic through alternative materials

ON THIS DAY | In 1883, Thomas Edison and Stephen D. Field built the world’s first elevated electric railway. It was a narrow-gauge 3-foot-wide track in the gallery around the edge of the main exhibition building of the Chicago Railway Exhibition.

It ran at 9 mph. 🛤️

A fantastic achievement from our Nuneaton Distribution Centre team 👏

Ten colleagues took part in Birmingham Children's Hospital and Charity’s Corporate Sports Day, showing great teamwork across events like relay races and tug of war.

They smashed their £1,000 target, raising an incredible £3,700 and helping the event generate over £60,000 for the hospital.

With over £10,000 now raised through the partnership, they’re not stopping there, next up, a dragon boat race in September 🚣‍♀️

Not every team moment happens in a meeting room.

This weekend, it happened in Riga.

To wrap up our May Active for Change challenge in support of SolarAid, colleagues travelled from Denmark and Great Britain to join the HYROX event in Latvia, coming together to connect and support one another.

And when it came to it, they got stuck in, competing, encouraging each other, and pushing through every event together. 🙌

A huge thank you to HellermannTyton Group and Radley Yeldar for supporting the team and making moments like this possible. Together, we’ve raised £2,332 for SolarAid, which will be matched by RS.

This is what looks like in action! ❤️
