: Giving cobots 3D vision

What happens when you combine a collaborative robot with intelligent 3D vision?

Cambrian Robotics Vision enables robots to identify and pick complex, randomly positioned parts, helping automate tasks that traditionally rely on manual handling.

Paired with Universal Robots, it opens up new possibilities for flexible bin picking, machine tending and assembly applications. A clever way to make automation even more adaptable!

⚓ | Why Monitoring Matters

Every vessel generates valuable data – from engine performance and tank levels to electrical systems, temperatures and pressures.

Bringing all of that information together gives operators greater visibility over what’s happening onboard, helping them spot potential issues earlier, make informed decisions and reduce unexpected downtime.

At Applied Marine Automation, intelligent monitoring is all about giving crews the information they need, when they need it.

🌊 Smarter systems. Safer operations. Better performance.

This MayTec profile cable testing bench will be fitted with a PC and human interface device, creating a dedicated workstation designed with both operator safety and ergonomic comfort in mind.

Using the flexibility of the MayTec profile system, workstations like this can be designed around the operator and the specific requirements of the application.

Another great example of a practical, purpose-built solution from our team.

⚽🏆 What a fantastic day for a fantastic cause!

On Saturday, we brought together colleagues, local businesses, friends and families for the Applied Automation Charity Football Tournament, raising hundreds of pounds for St Luke's Hospice Plymouth.

After a full day of competitive football, DX and PTG battled it out in a tense final, with DX eventually taking the 2026 title on penalties!

A huge thank you to everyone who played, supported, donated and helped organise the day – particularly Brooke Youlden-Daw and the wider team for making it all happen.

A brilliant day that was about much more than football – and we’re already looking forward to making it even bigger and better next year!⚽

⚓ | What is Marine Automation?

Marine automation is working behind the scenes every second a vessel is in operation.

It helps monitor critical systems, provides real-time information to operators, improves efficiency and enhances safety onboard.

From alarm monitoring to control systems, today’s vessels rely on intelligent automation to support day-to-day operations.

At Applied Marine Automation, we deliver solutions designed for reliability in demanding marine environments.

🎓 Supporting Future Talent

Today, David Owen, Divisional Manager at Applied Automation, visited the University of Bath School of Management for the final presentations from a group of MSc students who have been working on a consultancy project with us. Jessica Laura Rees, Head of Marketing at Applied Automation, also joined remotely to hear the students' presentations and provide feedback.

The students presented their ideas for a marketing performance dashboard and a post-merger marketing strategy, and we were incredibly impressed by the quality of their research, professionalism and creativity.

A huge thank you to Sophie, Mia, Ice, Patty, Felicia and Priyanka for all of your hard work throughout the project.

Thank you to the University of Bath for the opportunity to collaborate with such a talented group of students. We wish you all every success in your future careers!
