⚠️ One of the biggest issues we see on poorly installed patios is spot bedding.

This is where small dabs of mortar are placed under the slab instead of giving it a full solid bed of support underneath.

It might save time during installation, but it often leads to rocking slabs, movement, cracks, and weak spots over time.

What looks fine on the surface can quickly become a problem once the patio starts taking weight and weathering the seasons.

Every slab should be laid on a full mortar bed so it’s properly supported, level, and built to last.

🙅‍♂️A common mistake we see on poorly installed patios is getting the drainage wrong.

If a patio is laid flat, or worse, sloping back towards the house, water has nowhere to go. That leads to puddles, slippery surfaces, staining, and in some cases water running back toward the property.

It might not seem like a big issue at first… until every time it rains, the problems show up.

That’s why every patio should be laid with the correct fall so water drains away properly and the surface stays usable all year round.

A patio is only as strong as what’s underneath it. 👀

One of the biggest mistakes made by inexperience is using the wrong sub-base… or skipping it altogether (corner cutting😡).

The slabs might look great when they’re first laid, but without a proper compacted foundation underneath, movement is almost guaranteed.

Over time that means sinking areas, rocking slabs, uneven levels and costly repairs.

A solid sub-base using the right materials, laid at the right depth and compacted properly, is what gives a patio real strength and long-term durability.

It’s the part most people never see… but it’s one of the most important parts of the whole job.

Anyone can lay slabs. Not everyone builds them to last. ✅
