👀We are seeking to recruit a skilled carpenter sub-contractor with expertise in a range of carpentry techniques to support all our services. You will be responsible for planning, installation, repair, and finishing of garden room structures, as well as decking and fencing installations. Additional responsibilities include managing a small team on-site.
Your role will involve working in diverse environments to deliver reliable and effective installations. Attention to detail is crucial for success in this position.
The ideal candidate will understand our services—from garden rooms and decking to aluminium and composite materials—as well as other carpentry skills, including commercial and residential fire safety doors. You must be capable of working independently, adhering to all health and safety standards, and managing a small team.
Successful applicants should be hardworking and dependable, with excellent communication and organisational skills. They should also have completed a carpentry course or possess equivalent experience in the field.
Responsibilities:
- Lead installation projects with management support.
- Manage a small team of installer labourers (team of 3).
- Assist management with structural design, planning, layout, and installation.
- Read and interpret designs to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and other tradespeople.
- Design and install wood, composite, aluminium decking, fencing, garden rooms, and balustrade systems.
- Assess the quality of workmanship and materials.
- Operate and maintain tools, machines, and other equipment.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes and health and safety regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and climb, pull, and lift heavy objects.
- Act as a project lead with management support.
- Manage a small team and assist in their development.
Requirements:
- Completion of a recognised apprenticeship or at least 10 years of experience as a senior-level carpenter/joiner.
- Strong communication skills.
- CSCS card required.
- IOSH certificate is advantageous.
- Full, clean driving license.
- Track record of work history.
- Likely candidates should have managerial or team leader experience and be capable of managing a small team.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Must be physically fit with good hand-eye coordination.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
