Throughout the month of June, we welcomed 117 students from across Northern Ireland to Almac HQ for our work experience programme.

Through practical workshops, site tours and employee insights, students explored career pathways across Sciences, Engineering, IT and Business, gaining a valuable first-hand look into life at Almac.

Congratulations to our 13 Almac Accelerate graduates! 🎓

We’re proud to celebrate our Higher Level and Degree Apprentices who have graduated with BSc (Hons) degrees from Ulster University.

Their hard work, dedication and talent are a credit to them, and we’re delighted that each graduate will continue their career with Almac in full-time roles across the organisation.

John Malone, Associate Director – Spectroscopy at Almac Sciences, delivered a scientist visit to Primary 6 pupils at Anahilt Primary School 🔬

Students stepped into the role of an Analytical Chemist, taking part in hands-on activities including paper chromatography, where they explored how different colours are made up of unique pigments.

Through interactive Science and Engineering activities and time with our teams, they explored how the drug development process comes to life — and the career opportunities behind it.

This week, Almac hosted a workshop with Year 13 Chemistry students at Belfast High School, offering a hands-on insight into life at Almac. 🧪✨

Students heard from former pupil Claire Campbell (Pharma Services, QC Team Leader), performed a Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) experiment, and did an activity that showcases the wide range of roles supporting the drug development lifecycle at Almac.

Week 2 of work experience at Almac brought 37 students into the world of science, engineering and IT — with hands-on workshops, lab tours, and career insights from apprentices and industry professionals.

From exploring roles across Almac to building key skills, students developed a valuable understanding of the many potential opportunities available in a global contract development and manufacturing organisation.

Mark McColgan, Associate Director - Software Engineering and former Foyle College student, shared his career journey and insights into working in STEM.

From education choices to real-world experience, students had the chance to ask questions and learn more about careers in software engineering and beyond.
