👷‍♂️Behind the Hard Hat – Meet Louis Powell-Jones 👏

Meet Louis, one of our dedicated Construction Site Managers who has been a valued member of the Habens team for over two years.

Louis began his career in construction as a Dry Liner, working on office fit-outs and refurbishment projects, following this he progressed into a Site Supervisor role, delivering projects across the commercial, leisure, education and healthcare sectors for some of the construction industry's leading clients.

Since joining Habens, Louis has continued to demonstrate exceptional leadership, helping to deliver projects safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

Most recently, Louis has been managing the Fairisle Junior School Roof Replacement Works project for Southampton City Council. The project involves the complete removal and replacement of roofing systems across multiple buildings. Working within a live school environment, Louis has successfully coordinated the various trades and specialist contractors involved, ensuring the project progresses safely while minimising disruption to staff and pupils.

We’re currently on site at the Battenburg Centre, delivering a refurbishment and extension of the existing Family Centre building, on behalf of Portsmouth City Council

The works involve a full reconfiguration of the existing layout, alongside a small extension to create three new double SEN classrooms, supported by additional teaching and welfare spaces.

A big part of the scheme is the internal strip-out and rebuild, including removal of partitions, ceilings and finishes, upgrades to sanitary and kitchen areas, new windows and doors throughout, and significant roof and façade alterations.

It’s a great example of taking an existing facility and reshaping it into a more functional, future-ready learning environment👷‍♂️🏗️

Works are now complete at Stamshaw Adventure Playground for Portsmouth City Council

Designed to create a safe, welcoming and flexible space for young people in the local Portsmouth community, this fantastic new facility includes:

- A large multi-purpose activity space
- Office facilities
- Dedicated hangout room
- WC facilities
- Plant room

It’s been a pleasure to deliver a project that will play such an important role in supporting youth provision and creating opportunities for local young people for years to come.

A great result for the community, and one we’re incredibly proud to have been part of.👏

Beach Cleanup for Surfers Against Sewage

On Friday, our office teams swapped the usual Friday afternoon routine for something a little different..

We took part in the Million Mile Clean with Surfers Against Sewage at Southsea Beach, spending the afternoon clearing litter and doing our bit to protect our coastline.

To round it off , we braved a sponsored sea dip before warming up in the beachside sauna with PortaSauna - The Portable Sauna

Behind the Hard Hat 👷‍♂️

Meet Andrew, our Site Manager at Bunting Gardens, bringing over 40 years of construction experience to the team.

Andrew began his career as an apprentice carpenter and joiner, progressing through roles as a trainee and assistant site manager to where he is today.

Our client at Hampshire County Council shared:

"I would definitely place Andrew in the top tier of site managers I have dealt with at HCC. His proactive approach, attention to detail, problem-solving ‘can-do’ attitude, and excellent on-site client management truly set him apart."
