There is currently a consultation regarding the use of mobility scooters and electric powerchairs and they are seeking views on changing the rules for using powered mobility devices on both roads and pavements aswell as the outdated terminology used for them.

The official term “invalid carriages” has always not sat well with me in the 18years I have been in the industry and I refuse to use it personally but it is used by both the government and the DVLA and it’s about time change was made .
